Every Friday, may small tradition ang family namin. Lagi kaming kumakain ng ice cream. Excited ang kids, at ako rin. Special ang Friday kasi ice cream day siya. Hindi siya malaking bagay or fancy, pero very happy kami. This small tradition is more than just eating ice cream. Tinuturo niya sa kids na i-enjoy ang small things sa life. Happiness doesn’t always need something big or mahal. Kahit isang simple cup ng ice cream, puwede na siyang maging special sa day. Ang kids, naghihintay for Friday buong week. Pagdating ng Friday, super excited sila. Minsan, tumatalon sila, tatawa, or mag-clap pag nakita nila ang ice cream. Nakakatuwa ang smiles nila, kaya happy din ako. When we have more budget, we buy a nice ice cream from a good brand. But our family, as long as the ice cream is chocolate or cookies and cream, we are grateful. We all sit together in the living room. The kids hold their ice cream carefully, so it does not fall. We eat slowly and enjoy the taste.
While we eat, we talk about our week. The kids tell stories about school or their friends. I tell little stories from work. We all laugh at funny things that happened. It is our special time to be together. Even when money is tight, we still keep our Friday ice cream. We may buy a simple ice cream, maybe just plain vanilla, but we never skip our tradition. This shows the kids that family time and small moments are more important than money. The ice cream may taste simple, but the happiness and love we share are big. Sometimes, the little ones get ice cream on their fingers or nose. We laugh and help them clean it. Sometimes the youngest tries to share her ice cream with the older ones. Ang cute nito, and it makes our time together even more fun. Friday ice cream day is something we all wait for every week. It is small, but it makes us happy.
