Hoy quiero hablarles sobre algo que, confieso, me pasa más seguido de lo que me gustaría: los libros que dejo a medias. Esos que en algún momento me estaban gustando, pero que, por una u otra razón, terminé abandonando con la promesa de retomarlos “en algún punto”... y bueno, ese punto aún no llega, pero quiero que este año sí lo haga.Estos son algunos de ellos:

1.A court of roses and thorns/Una corte de rosas y espinas (Sarah J. MASS)
Esta historia es archiconocida y llevaba mucho tiempo queriendo leerla, sobre todo por todo el revuelo que ha causado en la comunidad lectora. La protagonista, Feyre, nos ofrece una versión poco común del cuento de La Bella y la Bestia, transportándonos a una tierra mágica donde termina secuestrada.
This story is well known and I have been wanting to read it for a long time, especially because of all the commotion it has caused in the reading community. The protagonist, Feyre, offers us an unusual version of the tale of Beauty and the Beast, transporting us to a magical land where she ends up kidnapped.
Sinceramente, no pude avanzar mucho después de su secuestro por Tamlin. No porque la trama no me interesara, sino porque el algoritmo de las redes comenzó a lanzarme spoilers sin piedad. Y aunque sé que, tratándose de una saga famosa y con varios años, debería tener más paciencia, lo cierto es que eso me quitó un poco las ganas de continuar. Sin embargo, sé que me pierdo de mucho y quiero darle otra oportunidad, quizás redescubrir la historia sin tanta presión externa.
Honestly, I couldn't make much headway after her kidnapping by Tamlin. Not because the plot didn't interest me, but because the algorithm of the networks started throwing spoilers at me mercilessly. And although I know that, being a famous saga and with several years, I should have more patience, the truth is that it took away my desire to continue. However, I know I'm missing a lot and I want to give it another chance, maybe rediscover the story without so much external pressure.

Conocí a estas autoras gracias a Seremos el huracán y me encantó su estilo, así que me animé con este libro de fantasía que prometía mucho. La premisa me atrapó: un chico con la capacidad de manipular el tiempo… ¿cómo no emocionarse con algo así? El problema vino con el cambio de perspectivas narrativas. No es que estuviera mal, pero me costó un poco adaptarme y terminé sintiéndome algo abrumada. Aun así, sigo creyendo que este libro tiene un enorme potencial y por eso quiero retomarlo, ahora con la mente más abierta y preparada para su estructura.
I met these authors thanks to Seremos el huracán and I loved their style, so I was encouraged with this fantasy book that promised a lot. The premise grabbed me: a boy with the ability to manipulate time...how could you not get excited about something like that? The problem came with the change in narrative perspectives. Not that it was bad, but it took me a while to adjust and I ended up feeling a bit overwhelmed. Even so, I still think this book has enormous potential and that's why I want to pick it up again, now with a more open mind and prepared for its structure.

Un clásico que considero que todos deberíamos leer al menos una vez, especialmente en la actualidad. Por eso me animé a empezarlo. Sin embargo, la realidad política y social de mi país en aquel momento me había afectado tanto que terminé cayendo en una depresión… y este libro, con su atmósfera tan opresiva, no ayudaba demasiado. Ahora que me encuentro mejor, con una actitud más fuerte para afrontar ciertas lecturas, quiero retomarlo antes de que termine el año. Siento que es un espejo incómodo pero necesario de muchas cosas que vivimos hoy en día.
A classic that I think everyone should read at least once, especially nowadays. That's why I was encouraged to start it. However, the political and social reality of my country at the time had affected me so much that I ended up falling into a depression... and this book, with its oppressive atmosphere, didn't help much. Now that I feel better, with a stronger attitude to face certain readings, I want to take it up again before the end of the year. I feel it is an uncomfortable but necessary mirror of many things we live today.
La verdad es que siempre termino escogiendo libros con un gran potencial, y no sé por qué me sucede que acabo dejándolos a un lado. Mi yo de 14 años, que devoraba historias sin parar, estaría bastante decepcionada… pero así es la vida. A veces necesitamos pausas para volver a un libro con una mirada distinta, y tal vez eso haga que la experiencia sea aún mejor.
The truth is that I always end up picking books with great potential, and I don't know why I end up putting them aside. My 14-year-old self, who devoured stories non-stop, would be quite disappointed... but that's life. Sometimes we need pauses to come back to a book with a different look, and maybe that makes the experience even better.
Mi meta es retomar estos títulos y cerrar el año con la satisfacción de haberles dado la oportunidad que merecen. Porque, al final, los libros siempre nos esperan.
