Como siempre, es un placer poder venir a este espacio y hablarles de lo que más nos gusta: los libros, y en especial, esas adaptaciones que nos permiten disfrutar en la pantalla grande de aquellas historias que tanto amamos en papel.
Hello dear Hive community, I hope you are feeling well. As always, it is a pleasure to be able to come to this space and talk to you about what we love most: books, and especially those adaptations that allow us to enjoy on the big screen those stories we love so much on paper.
En esta ocasión quiero compartir con ustedes una noticia que me tomó por sorpresa: la adaptación de La hipótesis del amor. Esta fue una novela que disfruté mucho, incluso cuando no me considero una fan empedernida de Ali Hazelwood. La verdad es que, de los dos libros que leí de ella, ambos me parecieron muy similares en su estructura y estilo. Sin embargo, siempre le tendré un cariño especial a La hipótesis del amor, en parte porque fue la historia que me presentó a Adam (jajaja, sí, todavía me roba suspiros).
On this occasion I want to share with you some news that took me by surprise: the adaptation of The Love Hypothesis. This was a novel that I enjoyed very much, even though I don't consider myself an inveterate fan of Ali Hazelwood. The truth is, of the two books I read by her, I found them both very similar in structure and style. However, I will always have a special fondness for The Love Hypothesis, partly because it was the story that introduced me to Adam (hahaha, yes, he still steals sighs from me).
Lo más emocionante es que Amazon, en colaboración con MRC, está desarrollando esta película, y además la propia Ali Hazelwood se encuentra involucrada como productora ejecutiva. Eso me genera confianza, porque significa que tendrá voz en el proceso y que, quizás, logren mantener la esencia de la historia. Y hablando del elenco, la película estará protagonizada por Lili Reinhart como Olive y Tom Bateman como nuestro queridísimo Adam.
What's exciting is that Amazon, in collaboration with MRC, is developing this film, and Ali Hazelwood herself is involved as an executive producer. That gives me confidence, because it means that she will have a voice in the process and that, perhaps, they will manage to keep the essence of the story. And speaking of the cast, the film will star Lili Reinhart as Olive and Tom Bateman as our beloved Adam.
Por lo que se sabe, el rodaje comenzó a mediados de julio, así que probablemente no tengamos el estreno hasta 2026. La espera será larga, pero tengo la intuición de que esta adaptación podría convertirse en un éxito de taquilla. Al final, las comedias románticas siempre tienen un público amplio, ya que ofrecen esa mezcla de ligereza y romance que tanta falta hace en el cine actual.
As far as is known, filming began in mid-July, so we probably won't have a release until 2026. The wait will be long, but I have a hunch that this adaptation could become a blockbuster. In the end, romantic comedies always have a wide audience, as they offer that mix of lightness and romance that is so lacking in today's cinema.
Eso sí, también debo reconocer que esta historia, al basarse en un cliché muy recurrente —el de la relación falsa que termina en algo real—, puede ser un arma de doble filo. Si no se maneja bien, podría convertirse en una película olvidable, una más en la larga lista de comedias románticas sin impacto. Por eso espero que el guion, la dirección y, sobre todo, la química de los protagonistas, logren darle vida a esta historia como lo hizo el libro.
Of course, I must also admit that this story, being based on a very recurrent cliché - that of the fake relationship that ends in something real - can be a double-edged sword. If not handled well, it could become a forgettable movie, one more in the long list of romantic comedies without impact. That's why I hope the script, the direction and, above all, the chemistry of the main characters, manage to bring this story to life as the book did.
En cuanto al casting, confieso que mis sentimientos son mixtos. Lili Reinhart me parece una elección bastante acertada para Olive: tiene ese aire inocente, despistado y dulce que tanto nos enamoró en la novela. Con Tom Bateman como Adam, en cambio, tengo mis reservas. No es exactamente como lo imaginaba al leer, pero reconozco que su porte y expresividad pueden encajar si logran darle la seriedad y ese encanto silencioso que caracterizan a Adam. Al final, lo más importante será la química entre ellos, y creo que puede sorprendernos.
As for the casting, I confess that my feelings are mixed. Lili Reinhart seems to me to be a pretty good choice for Olive: she has that innocent, clueless and sweet air that we fell so much in love with in the novel. With Tom Bateman as Adam, on the other hand, I have my reservations. He's not exactly how I imagined him when reading, but I recognize that his bearing and expressiveness can fit if they manage to give him the seriousness and quiet charm that characterize Adam. In the end, the most important thing will be the chemistry between them, and I think we may be surprised.
Y bueno, como lectora que guarda un cariño especial por La hipótesis del amor, solo me queda esperar que esta película haga justicia a la historia. Confieso que tengo un deseo enorme de que incluyan “esa escena” (quienes leyeron saben a cuál me refiero jajajaja). Si llegaran a omitirla, sí me sentiría un poco decepcionada, porque forma parte de lo que le da magia al libro.
And well, as a reader who has a special affection for The Love Hypothesis, I can only hope that this movie does justice to the story. I confess that I have a huge desire for them to include “that scene” (those who read it know which one I mean hahahaha). If they were to omit it, I would feel a little disappointed, because it is part of what gives the book its magic.
Por ahora, solo queda esperar noticias y seguir con la emoción de ver cómo una historia que tanto disfrutamos en papel cobra vida en la gran pantalla. ¿Y ustedes? ¿Le tienen fe a esta adaptación o creen que se perderá entre tantas comedias románticas?
