My Actifit Report Card: June 9 2025 - Twofer Special - Shade the Snowman ☃️

It was high time for a departure from being sedentary and yesterday was the day. We embarked on the trail loop from Liberty Library reaching the Commanche loop.

Throughout this trail there were torture implements in place. Just kidding. It just felt that way after this long break but we can't play anymore. We have the San Antonio Marathon to prepare for in December!

Box jumps

Squats

And flutter kicks. Oh my!

I noticed some purty shrubbery so here is a description:

The image shows a Texas Sage (Leucophyllum frutescens) bush, also known as Texas Ranger, Cenizo, or Barometer Bush. This drought-tolerant, low-maintenance shrub is native to Texas and northern Mexico.

Here are some key characteristics of Texas Sage: Appearance: It has silvery-gray foliage and produces vibrant pink, purple, or lavender flowers, typically after rain or increased humidity. Size: It typically grows 5 to 8 feet tall and wide, but compact varieties are available. Blooming: It is a seasonal bloomer, with flowers appearing from spring through fall. The term "barometer bush" refers to its tendency to bloom after rain or changes in humidity. Care: It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. It is drought-tolerant once established and requires minimal watering. Avoid over-watering and fertilizing. Uses: It is popular for landscapes, hedges, and container gardens, and attracts pollinators. Pruning: Prune in early spring to maintain shape and reduce density. Avoid heavy pruning, which can lead to dieback.

Day 2

It was the most blistering part of the day and what do I do. Decide to go on another run to my friends house. I did not consider how brutal of a trek this would be in the surrounding concrete jungle.

Despite my being hydrated, having suncreen applied and donning my boone cover, I was at the mercy of intense UV radiation. Despite that encumberence, I was able to shave 7 seconds from yesterday's max pace. It makes me wonder how much faster I would be in more temperate conditions. I don't think I will be finding out if I continue running during the peak of the heat. As I left my friends, I highly considered jumping in the apartment pool to cool me down on the way back but decided against it.

In retrospect, maybe it wasn't such a bad idea?

The trek back felt almost worse. I ended up making a sport out of scurrying through the beating sun and walking through the pockets of shade. It made me consider for just a brief moment:

What if a snowman was in my situation?

Their plight would not be a thing to take lightly. Even moment under sun, they wander closer to becoming a pile of mud. This fantastic scenario helped me forget my present discomfort as I contemplated gameplay mechanics of a snowman survival game.

The rudimentary mechanics would involve choosing the most expedient location to quicklu cross the illuminated sections using some sort of stamina ability while more leisurely passing through the cooler shade. I think this idea has potential so I can't really say more concerning my creative ruminations. You would need a North Pole security clearance for that. 🚫🎅

Early concept art complements of CoPilot. Very cool! ❄️

Welp that is it for today. Hope you enjoyed and see you next time!

Thanks for stopping by ✌️
