Taxes, while intended to fund public services, have a much deeper impact on our daily lives (and my wallet, lol) than many people realize.
Nowadays, in any country in the world, it is almost impossible to live on a salary alone (except for highly sought-after professions), which reduces our ability to save and invest. Throughout the year, consumption taxes are applied to almost everything we buy, from food to clothing and technology. This means that a portion of each transaction goes back to the government, reducing the real value of our hard-earned money, and for what? They always end up stealing or wasting that money.
This begins to generate stress and anxiety, diverting our energy away from more productive and enjoyable activities. Of course, in more prosperous countries, you may be able to save money after a long period of time by cutting back on non-essential items, but in less developed countries, it is a constant struggle because salaries are not sufficient to begin with.
In essence, although they are a necessary tool for the functioning of society, we cannot ignore the way in which our existence is consumed, so unfortunately the government always ends up winning in every respect.
