Mount Totumas Cloud Forest Ecolodge - Volcan, Panama

We were invited by some friends to go to a local ecolodge for some hiking on our friend's birthday. It is called Mount Totumas and it was pretty amazing. We had been there about 2 years ago, but just for a short visit.

There are a lot of trails on the property of 400 acres. It is a beautiful property with a lot of wildlife, trees, and plants. It is called a cloud forest and higher than we live, so it's a little colder.

We went on three of the trails, even though we ended up getting onto at least two other trails while we were hiking. We were there about 24 hours and spent 7 hours hiking. Let's just say my legs are done...for the week!

There were waterfalls on some of the trails. We tried to find monkeys, but we didn't ever see them. The owner said they also see pumas, tapirs, and other local wild animals on their game cameras.

This rainbow greeted us this morning when the sun came up. There was bajareque in the air, which is also known as a heavy mist. Hummingbirds and tanangers also hang around the main lodge where they are fed. There are so many of them and they're beautiful!

While we were there, we were also on the hunt for the Resplendent Quetzal, and we saw two! It was a couple that they have seen around before. The tail on the male was so long. They were especially beautiful when they flew from one branch to another!

Seriously, his tail is so long (on the left). We were really excited to get to see them because they were at the very end of a hike and we had kind of given up on getting to see them. Super cool!

We had a nice time seeing some plants and birds that we don't normally see. I just love all of the colors that the Creator uses to make the world beautiful. We are blessed!

One of the only bad things about the ecolodge is the road out to it. It's terrible and you need a 4x4 to get there. The hubs drove us, but it was totally crazy, nonetheless. We were all glad when it was over - 30 plus minutes of bumping around.

On the way out, we stopped by to see the pozos termales (hot springs). It's pretty small, but it was warm when I put my hand in it. It was a fun time with friends and I'm glad we were able to go.
