Greetings, friends It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the last day of summer, and my son and I are fishing. My son and I had planned this fishing trip back in May. This is our traditional fishing trip together in the last days of August. This tradition originated about 10 years ago, when I came to visit my son and we went fishing on the taiga river, and then on the lake. So this time I came to visit my son, and on Saturday, he said that we would go fishing on the taiga lake with his friends.
We left at about 5 a.m. We drove for about half an hour in thick fog, but gradually the Sun dispersed it. We had to drive 100 km to the lake, and we covered this distance in 3 hours with one stop for 10 minutes. By the way, it's also a tradition to stop about halfway along the way.
The bridge over the taiga river Somba. Last year we fished on this river, and this bridge was our final destination. By the way, there is still a river with that name in Karelia.
This time we went not to the bridge upstream, but to the lake, which is located downstream of the river. And our journey was about 20 km longer.
It turned out that the bridge is in disrepair, and it is forbidden to drive on it. There is a ford next to the bridge.
My son carries a rubber boat, I carry spinning rods and fishing bags. We need to walk about one and a half kilometers to the lake through the forest and swamp.
20-25 years ago, I carried a boat, and my son carried bags and fishing rods.
My son plays sports, so he walks easily through the swamp and I try to keep up with him, but our friends couldn't keep up with us. Do you see guys among the trees?
Walking is actually not very comfortable, but we are lucky that there is little water in the swamp this year.
Cranberries are a marsh berry. This berry is considered medicinal. Cranberry juice should be drunk for colds. It helps to reduce body temperature and contains a lot of vitamin C and other trace elements.
We reached the riverbank. A short rest, preparation of boats and spinning rods, and we are ready for fishing.
We rowed about 500 meters to the lake and then made our way through the thickets of water lilies. We were glad that the wind was completely absent and we could fish in peace. The wind is a big hindrance on such lakes. We do not carry additional anchor loads with us, because this is an additional load for passing through the swamp. But the boat is being driven by the wind across the lake without an anchor. To stand in one place, we use poles, which we stick into the bottom of the lake and attach the boat to it.
It's a long story about fishing, but there aren't any pictures of fish. Why is that? On this day, we swung the oars and rode a long distance across the lake. The fish were absolutely not interested in our baits. We caught only 2 small pikes and a few small perches, which were sent back to the water to grow up.
The time on the lake flew by quickly. We got great pleasure from communicating with nature and with each other. We just didn't have enough good catch for complete happiness.
3 hours on the way back home, talking, laughing, discussing songs and music that was playing in our car. We arrived home only at 9 p.m. My phone was bursting with incoming messages and notifications. We lived for almost 16 hours in the complete absence of a mobile connection.
