I once camped on the shores of Lake Lut Tawar in the cold city of Takengon, a city in the highlands of Aceh province. Our purpose was to celebrate a farewell party. That night, I camped with my high school friends and rented several tents.
Because our campsite was in a highland area, it was naturally very cold that night. We built a campfire in front of the tent and had barbecued chicken for dinner.
Then there was one moment that I remember very well: when my friends had to go into the Takengon city area to pick up rice that had been prepared there. As they passed the deserted road along Lake Lut Tawar leading to our campsite, they claimed to have seen a strange, unrecognizable figure. The figure resembled a human, but they were unsure whether it was actually a human or a ghost.
The refreshing story certainly made our camping experience a little spooky, but we also really enjoy hearing horror stories like that because they make our camping experience even more exciting. That night, after we finished grilling the chicken, we immediately had dinner together by the quiet and serene lake.
Our sense of togetherness that night was truly warming. We laughed together, making us feel truly happy. Furthermore, the very cold atmosphere made me feel like I was in the middle of the snow. The next morning, as the sun began to rise and illuminate the universe, the cold air returned, making me feel very cool, making me feel very happy again. Especially the view I saw was the beautiful lake and mountains, like heaven. Since we were only camping for one night, the next morning we immediately packed all our gear to take home.
This is my camping story with my good friends for my participation in the #weekend-engagement contest hosted by @galenkp. Thank you to everyone who has read my post.
