Going to Try LeoDex? Don't Forget to Do This Before Doing a Swap!
At the moment my relationship with [LeoDex](https://leodex.io/?ref=arc7ic) is one of **love** and **hate**.
**Love** because I see a lot of potential in projects like this, which make it simple, fast, and intuitive to move funds from one chain to another.
**Love** because I’m a LEO hodler, who has seen the value of their investment increase significantly also thanks – and above all – to the announcement of the [USDC rewards](https://peakd.com/hive-146620/@arc7icwolf/engita-why-am-i-unstaking-all-my-leo-hint-usdc-drips-bxu) that from September 23 LeoDex will begin distributing to all LEO stakers on Arbitrum.
**Love** because thanks to LEO and LeoDex I’m gaining financial exposure to a project that partly exists outside Hive, thus contributing to the diversification of my investment.
But also **hate**, because on LeoDex far too often I feel like a **beta tester**, with transactions failing and funds stuck for weeks due to malfunctions of LeoDex itself.
That’s why I decided to write this post, to share with everyone a very important lesson that I believe anyone about to use LeoDex should immediately take to heart.
The extremely honest and selfless piece of advice I want to give you is this:
## Before making a transaction... do a test one! Trust me on this and do it. Want to make a swap? Do a much smaller one first to check that the route you’ve chosen works and returns the amount you expect. Want to move some LEO from one chain to another? Send a very small amount of LEO first to check the fees and ensure the bridge you’ve chosen works. See a golden opportunity you can’t afford to miss? Maybe an arbitrage that seems too good to be true? **Test every single step first**. Go through the full cycle, make sure everything works as expected **before** sending a larger amount of funds. Trust me, I’m speaking from personal experience. If you don’t want to risk having your funds stuck for who knows how long, do small test transfers: even just one is usually enough, just to make sure there are no issues. You’ll lose a couple of minutes and spend a bit more on fees, but it’s certainly better than seeing hundreds or thousands of dollars disappear while waiting for someone to step in and fix the situation. Also because LeoDex customer support isn’t the fastest, and while you wait to get your funds back the market conditions may have changed drastically, making your whole operation completely useless. So, try LeoDex, but always do a test transfer before every transaction. I assure you, spending those extra two minutes will save you a lot of frustration and stress.

Al momento il mio rapporto con [LeoDex](https://leodex.io/?ref=arc7ic) è di **amore** e **odio**.
**Amore** perchè vedo un sacco di potenziale in progetti come questo, che rendono semplice, veloce ed intuitivo muovere fondi tra una chain e l'altra.
**Amore** perchè sono un hodler di LEO, che ha visto aumentare notevolmente il valore del proprio investimento anche grazie e soprattutto all'annuncio delle [ricompense in USDC](https://peakd.com/hive-146620/@arc7icwolf/engita-why-am-i-unstaking-all-my-leo-hint-usdc-drips-bxu) che dal 23 settembre LeoDex inizierà a distribuire a tutti gli stakers di LEO su Arbitrum.
**Amore** perchè grazie a LEO e LeoDex sto ottenendo esposizione finanziaria ad un progetto che, in parte, vive al di fuori di Hive, contribuendo perciò alla diversificazione del mio investimento.
Ma anche **odio**, perchè su LeoDex troppo spesso mi sembra di essere un **beta tester**, con operazioni che non vanno a buon fine e fondi che rimangono bloccati anche per settimane a causa di malfunzionamenti di LeoDex stesso.
Per questo ho deciso di scrivere questo post, con cui condividere con tutti quanti una lezione molto importante che credo chiunque si appresti ad utilizzare LeoDex debba subito cercare di fare propria.
Il consiglio estremamente sincero e disinteressato che voglio darvi è il seguente:
## Prima di effettuare un'operazione... fatene una di prova! Fidatevi di me e fatelo. Volete effettuare uno swap? Fatene prima uno molto più piccolo per verificare che la route che avete scelto funzioni e restituisca l'importo che vi aspettate. Volete spostare dei LEO da una chain ad un'altra? Inviate prima una quantità piccolissima di LEO per verificare l'importo delle fee e che il bridge scelto funzioni. Vedete un'opportunità d'oro che non potete lasciarvi scappare? Magari un arbitraggio che sembra troppo bello per essere vero? **Testate prima tutti i passaggi**. Fate il giro completo, assicuratevi che tutto funzioni come vi aspettate **prima** di inviare una maggior quantità di fondi. Fidatevi, parlo per esperienza personale. Se non volete rischiare di trovarvi con i vostri fondi bloccati per chissà quanto tempo, effettuate dei piccoli invii di prova: anche uno solo in genere è abbastanza, giusto per assicurarsi che non ci siano problemi. Perderete un paio di minuti di tempo, spenderete qualcosa di più in commissioni, ma sicuramente meglio di vedere sparire centinaia o migliaia di dollari in attesa che qualcuno abbia il tempo di intervenire e sbloccare la situazione. Anche perchè il supporto clienti di LeoDex non è velocissimo e nell'attesa di riavere i vostri fondi le condizioni di mercato potrebbero essere mutate profondamente, rendendo la vostra intera operazione completamente inutile. Perciò, provate LeoDex, ma fate un invio di prova prima di ogni operazione. Vi assicuro perdere quei due minuti in più vi risparmierà un bel po' di frustrazione e nervosismo.
