YEINIER'S INSOMNIA

This is an excerpt from the first story, titled Darkness, which opens the book Children of Insomnia, by the young narrator, poet, radio scriptwriter, editor, proofreader, and book designer Yeinier José Aguilera Concepción (Puerto Padre, Las Tunas, 1981).
This author graduated from the Onelio Jorge Cardoso Literary Training Center. His best-known publications include A Park with Small Stories (2014), The Idea Thief (2017), both published by Sanlope Publishing House, Las Tunas, and, most recently, Scrapbook Album (Capiro Publishing House, Santa Clara).
I've selected these lines from the first of the stories that avid readers of good literature will find when they get their hands on this sample of Aguilera Concepción's interesting narrative work.
The presentation of Los hijos del insomnio, produced by a team from the Las Tunas publishing house Editorial Sanlope, made up of Jorge Luis Polanco Martínez (binding), Andrés Sao Téllez (printing), Leoarmis Ojeda de la Torre (typesetting), Junior Fernández Guerra (cover design), and Neisy Ávila Parra (proofreading), is very attractive. Under my direction as editor, they were in charge of producing the 500 copies that were published in August 2021 and launched along the rocky road of national literature.
Its small print run proved insufficient, quickly selling out on our bookstores' shelves. That's why I decided to write these words, considering that, being published by a publisher of the Territorial Publishing System (SET), this title is at a significant disadvantage compared to those produced by the country's major publishing houses (Letras Cubanas, Unión, etc.).
Although its quality is very high, its reach was limited by the small number of copies and, of course, it suffered from the limitations of poor (or no) promotion through national media.
I am one of those who believe that young Cuban authors deserve widespread dissemination of their creative work so that it reaches the widest possible audience. It is advisable to use all available means, including the diverse platforms available on digital media, to promote them. Only then can society achieve the most just recognition of their stylistic and literary values.

Yeinier Aguilera's narrative work should be read by his fellow citizens, but it should also be appreciated by readers throughout the country, and even from other latitudes, because it is regrettable that it is ignored by many.
I hope it becomes better known, despite the geographical fatalism that surrounds us, because the fourteen stories that illuminate the pages of Los hijos del insomnio attest to the maturity of an author who, thanks to his skillful use of popular language, without rhetorical academicisms hindering communication, as well as to the use of that satirical tone where the burlesque takes on the height of fine humor and a sensitive approach to human realities and dilemmas, manages to offer the complete enjoyment and aesthetic pleasure of reading.

Aquí, en la posta cinco, nadie viene a joderme. Tengo dos horas para disfrutar de la mujer que me dé la gana. Hoy le toca a Vivian, mañana a la sargento, o a la mujer del teniente. El vaivén de las olas es hipnotizante y uno se pierde, se pierde…
Este es un fragmento del primer cuento que, titulado Oscuridad, da inicio al libro Los hijos del insomnio, del joven narrador, poeta, guionista de radio, editor, corrector y diseñador de libros Yeinier José Aguilera Concepción (Puerto Padre, Las Tunas, 1981).
Este autor es egresado del Centro de Formación Literaria Onelio Jorge Cardoso y entre sus publicaciones más conocidas están los títulos Un parque con historias pequeñitas (2014), El ladrón de ideas (2017), ambos por Ed. Sanlope, de Las Tunas y, recientemente, Álbum de recortería (Ed. Capiro, Santa Clara).
He seleccionado estas líneas del primero de los cuentos que los lectores ávidos de buena literatura podrán encontrar cuando tengan en sus manos esta muestra de la interesante obra narrativa de Aguilera Concepción.
Resulta muy atractiva la presentación de Los hijos del insomnio, realizada por un equipo de trabajo de la tunera Editorial Sanlope integrado por Jorge Luis Polanco Martínez (encuadernación), Andrés Sao Téllez (impresión), Leoarmis Ojeda de la Torre (composición), Junior Fernández Guerra (diseño de cubierta), Neisy Ávila Parra (corrección), que bajo mi dirección como editor, estuvo a cargo de producir los 500 ejemplares que vieron la luz en agosto de 2021 y echaron a andar por el escabroso camino de la literatura nacional.
Insuficiente resultó su pequeña tirada, que se agotó rápidamente en los estantes de nuestras librerías, por esa razón decidí escribir estas palabras, teniendo en cuenta que, al ser publicado por una editorial del Sistema de Ediciones Territoriales (SET), este título se halla en desventaja notable en comparación con aquéllos que son producidos por las grandes editoriales del país (Letras Cubanas, Unión, etcétera).
Aun cuando su calidad es muy alta, su alcance se vio limitado por la ínfima cantidad de ejemplares y, por supuesto, sufrió las limitaciones de la pobre (o ninguna) promoción a través de los medios nacionales.
Soy de los que piensan que los autores jóvenes de Cuba merecen una amplia difusión de su obra creadora, para que llegue a la mayor cantidad posible de lectores y es aconsejable poner al servicio de su promoción todos los medios disponibles, incluyendo las disímiles plataformas existentes en las redes digitales, solo así podrá lograrse el reconocimiento más justo de sus valores estilísticos y literarios por parte de la sociedad.
La obra narrativa de Yeinier Aguilera, debe ser leída por sus coterráneos, pero también debe ser apreciada por lectores de todo el país, e incluso, de otras latitudes, porque resulta muy lamentable que sea ignorada por muchos.
Ojalá llegue a conocerse mejor, a pesar del fatalismo geográfico que nos envuelve, pues las catorce historias que alumbran las páginas de Los hijos del insomnio, dan fe de la madurez de un autor que, gracias al sabio manejo del lenguaje popular, sin academicismos retóricos obstaculizando la comunicación, así como al uso de ese tono satírico donde lo burlesco toma altura de fino humor y un sensible enfoque de realidades y dilemas humanos, logra ofrecer el pleno disfrute y goce estético de leer.
