Hi mommies! It's the time of the year again when it's card-giving day at school.
In the Philippines, this is one of the most awaited by the students and parents since the students' effort and hard work are being recognized, and awarded.
Parents and guardians are sort of excited and nervous, on the other hand to hear feedback from their kids' teachers.
As a mom, I am excited to know if my daughter did well and became a role model to her classmates.
I always remind her to always choose the right thing and strive to become an inspiration to others. I shared with her how hard work and an enduring spirit are rewarded.
And as a mom, I'm so happy to witness how she really tries to excel in what she does. Just like how she learned basic guitar by herself.
It all started with her acoustic guitar, which no one had taught her but herself. Until she learned how to play bass guitar. On this day, they performed during the program, and she whispered to me that she had practiced the baseline of the song for only one hour.
She doesn't have her own base guitar, so her practice was almost cram.
A few days before this, though, her teacher reached out to me and told me the not-so-good news. My daughter has a very low grade in math that might cause her not to be awarded to the honor roll.
I got sad, yet I shrugged it off because I trust that my daughter did her best. It's just that Math is one of the most challenging subjects.
I talked to my daughter and told her about what her teacher told me. She's sad, yet she promised me that she'll do her best for the second quarter.
She even reminded me that she made a printed copy of her daily task and will stick with the routine.
So when it's the awarding of the honor roll. I wasn't expecting anything. Yet I almost wanted to shout in surprise when her name was called.
I wore my biggest smile and kissed her in front of the class. They all applauded and cheered my daughter for being included as one of the achievers.
I always told my daughter that I won't pressure her to be academically excellent, yet I taught her the value of hard work and a persevering spirit.
I can see in my daughter's eyes the honor she felt. She said that she'll do better in the next quarter.
I just smiled and felt thankful that my daughter values hard work, perseverance, and discipline. This day reminds me that all our hard work pays off.
So this day is worth celebrating!
