This should have been posted yesterday buuut my power(and thus internet) was out all day. Internet was only back this morning. >< So you'll be getting two today. :)
I really like how this one turned out, and I like how the monocolour looks. I'm not sure sure if there's an offical name for it since monochrome means only black and white but I used a blue for this.
And now for the process, it begins as a sketch, since there wasn't a ton going on in the background the sketch for this one was just the bird. I got pretty detailed since I wanted to get the feel of the feathers right.
Then I started on the background so that I wouldn't end up comparing values to white when I should be comparing them to various other values.
From there I started doing base colours. which are done kinda sloppy cause that's just how I roll. But it does give me a stronger sense of the composition and if I have the right colours.
Then I started added in darks, and some extra texture for the feather feel.
Then I went in with the midtones and made the head look silly :P.
That is until I fixed it.
And then it was just a matter of filling in some tones on the tail and some more shading on the head, and the signature. And we done.
