I noticed something strange when I tried to play Monster Hunter Wilds with a friend on Friday night, there was a lack of monsters to hunt in the open world. It was very strange looking at the map and NOT seeing an abundance of monsters available to hunt. There was even one locale that was entirely vacant! The central theme in Monster Hunter is keeping nature in balance. If an area starts seeing a new monster that is causing chaos then there is an investigation to find out why it has moved from its previous territory and to see if the issue can be solved. Usually it is a bigger monster staking claim or sometimes an oddity to the environment that has to be solved before it causes unrepairable damage to the ecosystem. But this lack of big creatures is just strange altogether.

Sure, Capcom is about to release an update at the end of the month and maybe they 'toned down' the monster spawning rate or perhaps I have hit a dry spell for Monsters sighted, but even after I change the parameters of the locales ( Inclemency to Fallow seasons, Day to Night cycles ) there is still a lack of monsters appearing.
An ingame 'lore' reason would be that rogue hunters are overhunting monsters leading to a lapse in population, I mean this entry in the series does take place in a frontier that hasn't been visited and explored for over a thousand years, so there WOULD be a lack of restrictions specific to this area. I don't know
I have logged on again recently and there was still a lack of monsters available to hunt. There are the Handler quests that place me in a locale with a spawned monster to hunt but that still doesn't solve the lack of monsters in the open world.
What is a hunter without the hunt? (Warcraft reference) Hopefully the update at the end of this month brings life back to the Wilds Ecosystem when they introduce Lagiacrus, my favorite monster that hasn't been seen since Monster Hunter 3(2009) and featured in Generations Ultimate (2018). (Also the inspiration for my profile image)
