Last Wednesday, I travelled from Cebu to Jakarta via Manila. Then after quarantine, I headed to Pekanbaru. In a span of three days, I've been to six airport terminals, and I couldn't be more exhausted yet excited. I have waited for this trip for almost a year.
I have always been impressed with the new Mactan Cebu International Airport - Terminal 1. So Instagrammable and the view of the runway was just therapeutic; you get to see the vast expanse dotted with airplanes and airport vehicles.
As I was travelling with Philippine Airlines, I arrived at their designated arrival area in NAIA Terminal 2. Since my check-in luggage was already set to be claimed in Jakarta, I proceeded to Terminal 1 for my evening flight to the Indonesian capital. It was my first time to see the original NAIA building signage that we often see in movies.
Shortly before midnight, I arrived at Soekarno Hatta International Airport - Terminal 3 in Tangerang, near Jakarta. I love the way they decorated the interior. It was totally welcoming, and it's reminiscent of Singapore's Changi Airport.
I checked in at the hotel for quarantine early morning of Thursday, and since my PCR test was negative, my Friday flight was on. I was flying Batik Air, one of their local airlines. And the airport was sight was exhilarating. There were so many travellers. It's good to see that people can travel more freely now compared to two years ago.
I arrived at the Pekanbaru airport shortly after lunch. And of course, I took another selfie as a memento while waiting for the driver to fetch me. It's been almost three years since I was here.
As I write this, I am having my lunch break, and I am just so thankful for the uneventful flights since I left Cebu and for the warm welcome of the community here. It's good to be back. More stories about my new adventure in the upcoming posts. Ciao!
