Hiii everyone~~ ^^ How are you? ^^ Here’s my drawing for the Splinterlands Art Contest. For this week’s contest, I decided to draw one of the old cards and I chose the “Firecaller” card. I have always liked this character so much. I like his style, his skin color and also the red lighting on his face. I was curious how he would look like if I turn him into a girl with all those cool features. So I started with a sketch of girl face and then drew the remarkable features of the character. I tried not to change the features so much because I already liked everything the way they were so I just changed her clothes a little because I wanted it to look more feminine. And as for her hair I didn’t want to tie it up so I changed her hair style. When I finished the sketch, then it was time to color it. As always I started with coloring her skin first, I didn’t plan to change her skin color because I liked it the way it was so I used violet color to paint the skin and then with a darker color I started shading and then highlighted her skin. I also added red color for painting his forehead. After that, I went on coloring her clothes and facial feature and after coloring and shading I added details on them. One thing that I really like about this character is the eyes. His eyes are so captivating and mesmerizing and the Combination of black and yellows looks awesome. I usually tend to make the character’a lips red because I wanted to seem cool but for this one I decided not to add any colors for her lips because I wanted them to be pale. After that, I worked on her hair. I was not sure if I should make her hair look like fire or just a normal hair. At first, I tried my first idea to paint the hair like fire, I used orange, yellow and white colors to make it look like real fire flames but I didn’t like it at all, I felt like that it was too bright!! :( I wished it looked way better. Since he is a fire caller I wanted to add this elements somehow. Then I had to go on with the other plan so I shaded her hair and then drew the hair strands. Then with a thin brush (light brush) I drew lots of hair strands to make the hair look more detailed :D it takes a long time but it always worth the result. Of course, she kind of looked messy with this hair details that I added in the end but I liked the result so much. The result turned out to be realistic and detailed just as I wanted it to be ^^ In the end, I kept the background black and only added some kind of magic lines around her just because I didn’t want to leave the background empty and also wanted all the attention to be on the character. ^^ And about the brushes that I used: I used soft air brush and hard air brush for shading and highlighting and for the hair details I used both hair brush and light brush. I also used this light brush for the other little details. ^^ This piece is one of my favorite pieces that I have ever worked on for participating in this Splinterlands Art contest so far and I really liked working on it. I hope you also liked it as much as I did.
Now let’s see the progress ^^
