Hello everyone~~ ^^ How are you? Here’s my drawing for the Splinterlands Art Contest. For this week’s contest, I decided to draw “Avarisdeus” portrait. This time I wanted to draw a card that I haven’t drawn before so I looked through the cards to find a good and I found this Avarisdeus card. ^^ It’s just a really cool card. What I really like about this character is his eye. He has got so many. I also love all those little red marks on his face and body. I was so excited to see how these feature would like on a human being. I decided to draw the human version to be a girl so I drew a girl and then I drew the remarkable features of this character. He didn’t have any but I didn’t want the human version of this character to be a bald girl ! :D so I drew long hair for her. I usually like drawing bangs for them but I didn’t draw bangs for this one because some of her eyes wouldn’t be seen that way. It’s one of the most important features of this character so I wanted to focus on them and make them look captivating. ^^
After that I finished working on the sketch, as always I went on coloring the skin first. I use the original character’s skin color to paint her skin. I shaded with a darker color and then highlighted the skin to create depth on the skin. After that, I worked on the red marks on her face and body and tried to make them look cool ! ^^ I always enjoy drawing wounds on the skin and these marks look like real wounds or maybe they are just scars. After that, I went on coloring her eyes and hair. I really liked working on her eyes and make them look cool. For coloring her hair I wasn’t sure which color suits her better because in the original art, he doesn’t have any hair. I tired few colors but didn’t like them, then I decided to color her hair black and then added red highlights. After that, I worked on the hair details and drew lots of hair strands :D In the end, I worked on the details in her eyes so that they would stand out better and I really liked the result. ^^ Her eyes became so captivating just as I wanted it to be. It’s quite scary too. :D As for the background I wanted to keep it black so the focus would be on the character ^^ but I felt that something was missing so I added the red lines. I really liked working on this portrait and loved how her face turned out in the end. Maybe it would have look much more better if some of her teeth were shown just like the original art. But it is fine just as it is right now beside I also love the smile on her face. I feel that it’s kind of scary. I hope you also like this painting as much as I enjoyed working on it. ^^ And about all the brushes I used for this piece: I used a soft air brush and hard air brush for shading and highlights the skin and the rest of the drawing. For drawing the red marks I used a hard brush and for adding the hair strands I only used a hair brush. I also used a light brush to draw those red lines in the end. Now let’s see the progress ^^
