This past Sunday, we celebrated my daughter's birthday in a very special way. We decided to visit Calle Bonita, a picturesque and very touristy street in Bogotá, located on Calle 30 between Carrera Quinta and Carrera Séptima. I had heard that there was a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, and bars there, so it seemed like the perfect place to spend the afternoon with the family. When we arrived, I was struck by the cheerful and colorful atmosphere and the number of visitors walking calmly, enjoying the day.
We started walking down the street with curiosity, observing every corner and looking at what the shops had to offer. After walking for a while, we decided to go into Báltico, a restaurant that offers local and international cuisine. We sat on one of the terraces because the weather was lovely, with a gentle breeze that made for a very pleasant afternoon. From there, we could watch the street bustle while we talked.

Este domingo pasado celebramos el cumpleaños de mi hija de una manera muy especial. Decidimos ir a conocer Calle Bonita, una calle pintoresca y muy turística en Bogotá, ubicada en la calle 30 entre las carreras quinta y séptima. Había escuchado que allí se encuentra una amplia variedad de restaurantes, cafés y bares, así que nos pareció el lugar perfecto para pasar la tarde en familia. Al llegar, me llamó la atención el ambiente alegre y colorido, y la cantidad de visitantes caminando con calma, disfrutando del día.
Empezamos recorriendo la calle con curiosidad, observando cada rincón y mirando lo que ofrecían en los locales. Después de caminar un rato, nos decidimos por entrar a Báltico, un restaurante que ofrece comida local e internacional. Nos sentamos en una de las terrazas porque el clima estaba delicioso, con una brisa suave que hacía muy agradable la tarde. Desde allí, podíamos ver el movimiento de la calle mientras conversábamos.

When we placed our order, each of us chose something different. I ordered a milanesa gratinada that looked irresistible. My husband chose a creamy, generously served pasta Alfredo. My daughter chose an ajiaco, warm and perfect for her craving that day. My son-in-law ordered a posta cartagenera, a typical dish from the Colombian Caribbean coast that looked spectacular. When the dishes arrived, they all looked generous and appetizing. We tried a little of each and were delighted with the flavors.
We ate calmly, chatting and enjoying the family celebration. It was a beautiful afternoon, full of good times and gratitude for being together. We were eager to return and continue discovering new places like this.
So we had a simple but very happy celebration.
Al momento de hacer nuestro pedido, cada uno eligió algo distinto. Yo pedí una milanesa gratinada que se veía irresistible. Mi esposo escogió una pasta Alfredo, cremosa y bien servida. Mi hija escogió un ajiaco, calientito y perfecto para el antojo del día. Mi yerno pidió una posta cartagenera, un plato típico de la costa caribe colombiana que se veía espectacular. Cuando llegaron los platos, todos lucían generosos y apetitosos. Probamos un poco de cada uno y quedamos encantados con los sabores.
Comimos con calma, conversando y disfrutando de la celebración en familia. Fue una tarde hermosa, llena de buenos momentos y agradecimiento por estar juntos. Quedamos con ganas de volver y seguir descubriendo nuevos lugares como este.
Así tuvimos una celebración sencilla, pero muy feliz.
