Today was a special day with my artisan friends from Wednesdays. From the moment I read the invitation to the faux stained glass workshop at the library, I knew it would be a special morning. I was already imagining that moment of creativity that I enjoy so much, but I was also thinking about how good it would be for me to disconnect from my routine and focus on something beautiful. A true exercise in mindfulness, one of those that help me calm my thoughts and enjoy the present.
We arrived at the library, and as always, the atmosphere with my artisan friends was one of pure joy. At the start of the workshop, we were given random drawings. I got a flower, and I couldn't have been happier, because I love flowers.

Hoy fue un día especial con mis amigas artesanas de los miércoles. Desde que leí la invitación al taller de falso vitral en la biblioteca, supe que sería una mañana especial. Imaginaba desde ya ese rato de creatividad que tanto disfruto, pero, además, pensaba en lo bien que me haría para desconectarme de la rutina y concentrarme en algo bonito. Un verdadero ejercicio de mindfulness, de esos que me ayudan a calmar los pensamientos y a disfrutar el presente.
Llegamos a la biblioteca, y como siempre, el ambiente con mis amigas artesanas era de pura alegría. Al iniciar el taller, nos entregaron los dibujos al azar. Me tocó una flor, y no pude estar más feliz, porque amo las flores.

There were a variety of markers on the table, but the first step was to outline the drawing and the edges of the figure in black so that the stained glass effect could begin to take shape. Little by little, each of us chose the colors we liked best and, calmly and precisely, we filled those transparencies with life. The concentration was such that there was a delightful peace in the room. All you could hear were a few comments about the colors.
When we finished, we placed the works on the wall, and the result was simply beautiful. Each drawing had its own charm, and together they looked like a real stained glass exhibition. I loved this activity, it filled me with satisfaction, and I brought home another drawing to practice. To finish, they proposed a new challenge: to soon use the same technique, but on MDF and with other materials.
I love Wednesdays with my craftswomen, because they are gatherings of creativity, learning, and above all, the company that nourishes my soul so much.
En la mesa había una variedad de marcadores, pero el primer paso era delimitar con negro el contorno del dibujo y los bordes de la figura, para que el efecto de vitral comenzara a tomar forma. Poco a poco, cada una de nosotras fue eligiendo los colores que más le gustaban y, con calma y precisión, fuimos llenando de vida esos acetatos. La concentración era tal, que se respiraba una paz deliciosa en la sala. Solo se escuchaba algún comentario sobre los colores.
Al finalizar, colocamos los trabajos en la pared, y el resultado fue sencillamente hermoso. Cada dibujo tenía su propio encanto, y juntos parecían una exposición de vitrales de verdad. Me encantó esta actividad, me llenó de satisfacción y me traje a casa otro dibujo para practicar. Para terminar, nos propusieron un nuevo reto: realizar, pronto, la misma técnica, pero en MDF y con otros materiales.
Amo los miércoles con mis artesanas, porque son encuentros de creatividad, aprendizaje y sobre todo, de la compañía que tanto nutre mi alma.
