In my jewelry-making class this Tuesday, we shared a very special moment. Since we celebrated Love and Friendship Day in Colombia over the weekend, we agreed to do a little sharing today. The idea was to prepare a fruit salad, so each of us brought something to add to it. Grapes, blueberries, bananas, papayas, strawberries, and mangoes appeared on the table—a true feast of colors and flavors!🍇🍓🥭
The surprise came when one of my classmates took out some low-fat fresh cheese to add to the salad.I must admit I was surprised because it was the first time I had seen that combination. Amid laughter, they told me that in Colombia it is very common to add cheese to everything: juices, desserts, and, of course, fruit. I found it curious because, for me, that combination does not exist, or at least, it is not usual.🧀🍇🍓

En mi clase de bisutería de este martes, compartimos un momento muy especial. Como el fin de semana celebramos el Día del Amor y la Amistad en Colombia, para hoy nos pusimos de acuerdo para hacer un pequeño compartir. La idea fue preparar una ensalada de frutas, así que cada una llevó algo para armarla entre todas. Sobre la mesa aparecieron uvas, arándanos, cambur, lechosa, fresas y mango, ¡un verdadero festín de colores y sabores!🍇🍓🥭
La sorpresa llegó cuando una de mis compañeras sacó un queso fresco descremado para añadirlo a la ensalada. Les cuento que me quedé sorprendida porque era la primera vez que veía esa mezcla. Entre risas, me dijeron que en Colombia es muy común ponerle queso a todo: a los jugos, a los postres y, por supuesto, también a la fruta. Me pareció curioso, porque para mí esa combinación no existe, o al menos, no es usual.🧀🍇🍓

The cheese itself was tasty, light, and fresh, but I found the combination with fruit a little strange. Even so, I served myself a full portion and ate it as it was. Since arriving in this country, I have been determined not to close my mind to things that seem different and to try new flavors. The truth is that I enjoyed my fruit salad with cheese in the company of my jewelry-making friends.💖
It was a morning full of love and friendship that made me feel grateful and happy.
El queso en sí estaba sabroso, ligero y fresco, pero con la fruta la combinación me resultó un poco extraña. Aun así, me serví mi porción completa y me la comí tal cual. Desde que llegué a este país he estado dispuesta a no cerrarme a lo que me parece diferente y a probar nuevos sabores. La verdad es que disfruté de mi ensalada de frutas con queso en compañía de mis amigas de bisutería.💖
Fue una mañana llena de cariño y amistad que me hicieron sentir agradecida y contenta.
