Moments captured by observant eyes.

--- >Photography freezes moments in history or in life, rendering them static, so that we can return to them in the form of memories, and only observant eyes can capture their intrinsic humanity. ---  --- Last month, I was fortunate enough to attend a photography exhibition at the La Malagueta cultural center, located in the city's bullring. There are always interesting exhibitions, always about photography and most of the time in black and white. ---   --- The exhibition is fantastic and belongs to the German photographer Jürgen Schadeberg. During a long tour, I was able to appreciate his vision and his great talent for seeing human beings in a different way, in their daily lives, their activities, their history, and their customs. It is impossible to bring everything I have seen and photographed into a single publication, as I tried to capture each of his works, everything his eyes have seen and appreciated. ---     --- This photographer fell in love with the southern coast of Spain, so much so that he stayed here until his last days, capturing the essence of Spain, which he loved, its humanity, its warmth, its way of being. I think that's why I identified with him, because since I arrived, the joy and kindness of the people was something that attracted me, and he chose to live in the same place or very close to the place I chose. ---  --- On the walls, during the tour, you can see phrases that Jürgen himself said, and they are in Spanish and English. I liked the humanity, simplicity, and truth of this phrase, his goal, the goal he uses in his camera, his eyes. Without eyes, everything you see would not be possible. This reminded me of a friend who visits me often, also a great photographer, and I dare to tag him @jlinaresp, who told me that I might not have a camera, but I had the essence to be a photographer. I think he was referring to the eyes. Knowing how to see inside people, as Jürgen did. ---     --- I think it is worth looking at each photograph in detail, from the faces of the people, their gestures and postures, in their daily activities, their work, their family life, vacations, walks, meetings in cafes or bars. It is as if all these photographs could be used to make a film about a specific era, the 1970s. ---     --- Jürgen was able to capture Spanish traditions, such as bullfights, religious festivals, and even the leisure time of Andalusians on the beach. Of course, they weren't all Andalusians; many were tourists. It was a time when, for example, many English people decided to come and live in this country, mainly because of the good weather, a stable and beautiful climate. ---    --- There were photographs of all kinds, whether everyday, street, or artistic photography, but as Jürgen rightly said, his goal was not a more or less good lens, but his eyes. That phrase, like many others, struck me because, as an artist and given the importance I attach to the eyes, I felt an important connection. >Jürgen could see beauty in everything, with every step he took surrounded by people, and in each of those people he saw the inside, and not only did he see it, but he captured it with his eyes and his camera.
