The paths of life are often strange, uncertain, and full of surprises, some pleasant, but others not so much. Those unpleasant surprises can be surrounded by complications, and the path can become increasingly dark, winding, and full of unstable and dubious steps. If we close our eyes and detach ourselves from the real world, we can hear the true guide, and that guide can come in the form of external signs. Knowing how to see them is quite a challenge and a skill, because sometimes they are subtle.
The path can become long, exhausting, and stressful, but we will always reach the end, because everything passes, the good and the bad, as life is cyclical. The hands of the clock turn, the days pass, as do the weeks and months, in a dark abyss of indecision, until the door filled with light opens. Once we pass through it, the door closes behind us to begin a new cycle, one of change for the better, a new path to follow, one where the butterfly of change gives way to the phoenix that renews everything, without forgetting that the black cat of protection was always by our side, the one that allows us to see the signs.
The door is closing, the phoenix is reborn, and a new, calmer path lies before our eyes, the eyes of the inner self.
# Design process
I created the design in Photoshop CS6 without AI, using seven copyright-free images and 18 layers.
To create the background, I used two images, one of a path that rises, a staircase, in the middle of a forest, and on top of it I placed the other image where a red tree predominates, which I arranged in three layers with darker color blends, focal light, and lighter color, erasing everything but the tree in the latter.
Then, before that last layer of the tree, I placed the peacock, leaving only the feathers and erasing the body, and I used the pattern blend. On top of this image, I placed the phoenix, which occupies the entire design, in two layers with focal light and lighter color blends. These two layers appear almost at the end of the animation, changing the background color to a more orange tone.
I worked on the image of the woman's face in three layers with focal light, lighter color, and normal blends, then selected the eyes, copied and pasted them before the last normal layer of the face, and enlarged them to fill the entire design. I arranged them in two layers with strong and normal light blends, erasing everything except the center of the eye in the latter.
On the woman's face, more specifically the eyes, I placed the butterfly without blending and on top of it the phoenix in the same way. Finally, on one side of the design, I placed the black cat in three layers, previously erasing the background, with focal light and lighter color blends.
The animation is done completely in After Effects, working on the opacity of each layer and adding lights in the form of clouds for better contrast.

Los caminos de la vida muchas veces son extraños, inciertos y nos deparan sorpresas, algunas gratas, pero otras no tanto. Esas sorpresas no gratas pueden estar rodeadas de complicaciones y el camino volverse cada vez más oscuro, más sinuoso y lleno de escaleras poco firmes y dudosas. Si cerramos los ojos, nos abstraemos del mundo real, podemos escuchar la verdadera guía y esa guía puede venir en forma de señales externas. Saber verlas es todo un desafío y una destreza, porque a veces son sutiles.
El camino se puede volver largo, agotador, estresante, pero siempre se llegará al final, porque todo pasa, lo bueno y lo malo, al ser la vida cíclica. Las agujas del reloj dan vueltas, los días pasan, como así las semanas y los meses, en un oscuro abismo de indecisión, hasta que la puerta llena de luz se abre. Una vez que la atravesamos la puerta se cierra detrás nuestro para iniciar un nuevo ciclo, uno de cambios a mejor, un nuevo camino por recorrer, uno donde la mariposa de los cambios deja paso al ave fénix que todo lo renueva, sin olvidar que el gato negro de la protección estuvo siempre a nuestro lado, ese que nos permite ver las señales.
La puerta se está cerrando, el ave fénix renaciendo y un nuevo camino más tranquilo ante los ojos, los ojos del interior.
# Proceso del diseño
El diseño lo realicé en Photoshop CS6 sin IA, con siete imágenes sin derechos de autor y en 18 capas.
Para crear el fondo usé dos imágenes, una de un camino que se eleva, una escalera, en medio de un bosque y sobre ella coloqué la otra imagen donde predomina un árbol de color rojo, que dispuse en tres capas con fusiones de color más oscuro, luz focal y color más claro, borrando en esta última todo menos el árbol.
Luego antes de esa última capa del árbol coloqué el pavo real, dejando sólo las plumas y borrando el cuerpo del mismo y usé la fusión de trama. Sobre esta imagen coloqué el ave fénix que ocupara todo el diseño en dos capas con fusiones de luz focal y color más claro. Estas dos capas aparecerán casi al final de la animación cambiando el color del fondo a más anaranjado.
Trabajé la imagen del rostro de la mujer en tres capas con fusiones de luz focal, color más claro y normal, luego seleccioné los ojos, copié y pegué antes de la última capa normal del rostro y los agrandé para que ocuparan todo el diseño. Los dispuse en dos capas con fusiones de luz fuerte y normal, borrando en esta última, todo menos el centro del ojo.
Sobre el rostro de la mujer, más específicamente los ojos puse la mariposa sin fusión y sobre ella el ave fénix de la misma manera. Finalmente, a un lado del diseño coloqué el gato negro en tres capas, borrando previamente el fondo, con fusiones de luz focal y color más claro.
La animación está realizada completamente en After Effects, trabajando la opacidad de cada capa y agregando luces en forma de nubes para un mejor contraste.
