A traditional city festival that takes place every year with singing, music, lots of colour and stalls full of various items related to this wonderful fair.

Este año la famosa fiesta de la ciudad, la gran feria, coincidió con la ola de calor en la ciudad, por lo que sólo los últimos días de la misma fueron con un mejor clima, con un poco menos de temperatura. Sin embargo, eso no impidió que los malagueños estuvieran presentes en la cantidad innumerable de eventos que, durante todo el día, todos los días de la feria y en sus dos localizaciones se llevaban a cabo. Y no sólo los lugareños se acercaron a los eventos y espectáculos que se habían programado, sino que mucha cantidad de turistas estaban allí también. Agosto siempre ha sido el mes de más calor y muchas personas que vienen a veranear eligen precisamente estas fechas para disfrutar de la playa, pero también de eventos como este que siempre se realiza en la segunda quincena de agosto durante ocho días. Las celebraciones se llevan a cabo en la famosa calle Larios, a la que se puede llegar por la plaza Constitución o también por la avenida principal de la ciudad, aunque muchas calles pequeñas llegan a la misma. También hay una gran celebración que se realiza en el recinto ferial, con atracciones para niños y adultos, muchos puestos de comida, restaurantes, casetas preparadas con distintos estilos de música, como pequeñas discotecas o lugares preparados para bailar. Y en el fondo preparan lugares para los típicos juegos gigantes de ferias. En esta ocasión y debido a las jornadas de intenso calor sólo pude asistir a la feria organizada en la calle Larios, ya que la otra me quedaba muy alejada y debía tomar dos autobuses para llegar a la misma.
This year, the city's famous festival, the great fair, coincided with a heatwave in the city, so only the last few days of the fair enjoyed better weather, with slightly lower temperatures. However, this did not prevent the people of Malaga from attending the countless events that took place throughout the day, every day of the fair, at its two locations.
And it wasn't just the locals who came to the events and shows that had been scheduled, but also a large number of tourists. August has always been the hottest month, and many people who come to spend their summer holidays choose precisely these dates to enjoy the beach, but also events such as this one, which always takes place in the second half of August for eight days.
The celebrations take place on the famous Calle Larios, which can be reached from Plaza Constitución or the city's main avenue, although many small streets also lead to it. There is also a big celebration at the fairgrounds, with attractions for children and adults, many food stalls, restaurants, and booths set up with different styles of music, such as small discos or places set up for dancing. And in the background, they set up areas for the typical giant fairground games.
On this occasion, due to the intense heat, I was only able to attend the fair organised on Calle Larios, as the other one was too far away and I had to take two buses to get there.

La plaza Constitución estaba hermosa decorada y como de costumbre con muchísima gente que disfrutaba del ambiente festivo, aunque los grandes protagonistas eran los abanicos, sobre todo en las mujeres, por el intenso calor. Muchas de ellas iban vestidas con los trajes típicos, los vestidos de flamenco. Por supuesto la bebida especialmente creada para estos días de feria, el vino Cartojal, se podía ver en todas partes alegrando la fiesta y también muchas publicidades y decoraciones sobre el mismo. La calle Larios estaba decorada muy armoniosamente, como todos los años, resaltando los mantones en los balcones, esto es algo que me encanta. Si bien mi gusto no es el flamenco como música y canto, es de destacar el baile. No bailo nada de nada, pero es agradable ver cuando bailan bien el flamenco. Por otra parte, creo que lo más me gusta son aquellos detalles típicos que estaban presentes en todos los puestos, como los abanicos, los mantones, las flores, sombreros y mucho más. De todo eso, los abanicos pintados artesanalmente es lo que más me apasiona por el arte que conlleva, como así también los matones bordados con esas flores preciosas, sus colores, variedades y estilos.
Constitution Square was beautifully decorated and, as usual, filled with people enjoying the festive atmosphere, although the main attraction was the fans, especially among the women, due to the intense heat. Many of them were dressed in traditional costumes, flamenco dresses.
Of course, the drink specially created for these days of the fair, Cartojal wine, could be seen everywhere, adding to the festivities, as well as many advertisements and decorations featuring it.
Larios Street was decorated very harmoniously, as it is every year, with shawls hanging from the balconies, which I love. Although I am not particularly fond of flamenco music and singing, the dancing is remarkable. I don't dance at all, but it's nice to see when people dance flamenco well.
On the other hand, I think what I like most are those typical details that were present in all the stalls, such as fans, shawls, flowers, hats and much more. Of all these, the hand-painted fans are what I am most passionate about because of the artistry involved, as well as the shawls embroidered with those beautiful flowers, their colours, varieties and styles.

Todos los puestos tenían estos accesorios característicos, no sólo de estas fechas de fiesta, sino que estan presente en la vida diaria de los malagueños. Por ejemplo, los mantones son un accesorio muy usado en las bodas y los abanicos en el día a día de las mujeres malagueñas. Por las calles circulaba mucha gente, tanto es así que muchas veces tuve que caminar por los lados para poder apreciar los puestos y tomar las fotografías. Las farolas también estaban delicadamente decoradas y siempre me gusta verlas, adoro las farolas. Eso creo que los que me siguen lo saben. Hasta hablo con ellas.
All the stalls had these characteristic accessories, which are not only typical of this festive season, but are also present in the daily life of the people of Malaga. For example, shawls are a widely used accessory at weddings and fans are used daily by the women of Malaga.
There were so many people in the streets that I often had to walk on the sides to be able to appreciate the stalls and take photographs. The street lamps were also delicately decorated, and I always enjoy seeing them; I adore street lamps. I think those who follow me know that. I even talk to them.

La decoración central que abre la feria en este lugar se conserva de los años anteriores y es fabulosa. También había presencia policial. Uno de los puestos que había allí me escucho hablar con mi acompañante y se acerco a decirme que era de Argentina, específicamente de Caballito, Buenos Aires. Es agradable ver argentinos por todas partes. Uno de los puestos tenía unas bolsas preciosas y les tome a dos que me encantaron. En una hay expresados sitios especiales de la ciudad y en la otra los tipos de café únicamente de Málaga Capital. Me los aprendí antes de venir, es algo único.

One of the stalls there heard me talking to my companion and came over to tell me that he was from Argentina, specifically from Caballito, Buenos Aires. It's nice to see Argentinians everywhere.
One of the stalls had some beautiful bags and I bought two that I loved. One shows special places in the city and the other shows the types of coffee unique to Malaga City. I learned about them before I came, it's something unique.

Luego crucé la avenida principal porque veía que en la plaza de la Marina había algo interesante. Parece que estaban haciendo unas grabaciones para el canal de televisión de la ciudad, con entrevista incluida. Then I crossed the main avenue because I saw that there was something interesting in the Plaza de la Marina. It looked like they were filming for the city's television channel, including interviews. I couldn't get very close, but I was able to take pictures of the surroundings and the decorations.
