Welcoming my 2nd Goddaughter to the Christian World

Some people said that if someone offered you a role of being a Godmother to a child, you must not refuse it. They claim that being invited to be a godparent is an honor because the because the biological parent of the child sees you as one reliable person in their lives to help them guide the upbringing of the child accordingly as it grows up. You're one significant person that has been role model parent that they trusted to guide the child. Surely, that's a challenge! Accepting the role means you are accepting a lifetime bond with the family. It also means that you are one of the second parent of that child that they could rely on in the future. For this blog, I'll be sharing the auspicious day for which we have brought this sweet little angel to the Christian world. And yes, I accepted the role of being a Godmother. Well, I was just thinking that I'm already a mother, so why not? If they think that I could give good guidance to the child, then I'm up for it, wholeheartedly. ---   The biological parent of this child is a schoolmate of mine in college. Recently, she had experiend devastating and traumatizing twist of events in her relationship. During that time, I'm of one of the people who comforted her and guided her to stand back up. Right now, seeing her happily holding her kid makes me feel very proud of her. Despite what happened, she choose to be strong and becoming a good mother to her daughter.  Together with my roommate, because they're also friends, we traveled for around 20 to 30 mins that morning since the venue is located near her area which on the other city. Gladly, it was my rest day from work the day before that, so I had plenty of sleep. I would become a zombie if I hadn't because after the event, I'll be heading straight to work. There was a mass first, and after that, all parents with their kids together with the godparents who signed up will be attending a short seminar. The catechist explained the program flow of baptism and explained to us carefully the Sacraments builts by Jesus Christ and briefly mentioned the church doctrine to remind us of our beliefs as Catholics. She articulately explained also the 4 symbols of Baptism which are the holy water, candle, white cloth, and holy oil. ||| |-|-| It took a bit longer but we were amazed to see that our little girl was very behaved. She was very quiet and smiling constantly to us. After few minutes, she was sleepy amd just slept in her Mom's shoulder for a while. When she wakes up, she was silently listening to everyone again and behaving on her mother's arms.   After the baptism, we headed to the reception and the family said they're having a surprise there. It's a bit far from the church, so we ride an e-bike to there faster.   The surprise was for the grandmother because it's also her birthday on that same day. They paid for a catering service and for the venue. We had our lunch here and after that, we went home because I wasn't feeling well that day. Sadly, since I was sick, I couldn't play with the baby or take her into my arms. I was afraid that she could get my sickness and you know, babies do still have weaker immune system, so I have to take precautions. And also, I was a bit sorry because my gift for her was late to be delivered that I came empty handed during her big day. Anyway, it's also good chance for me to have a reason to come back for another day to finally give it. I'm also hoping and praying that I really could help her growing up and be a good Godmother to her someday. --- *Anyway, that's all I can share today for my another motherhood adventure.
