Aceh Provincial Secretary Muhammad Nasir inaugurated the construction of the Aceh Jaya Salem Stadium in Calang, Aceh Jaya Regency, Indonesia, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. The sports facility, which cost Rp 74 billion, is expected to become an icon for the 2026 Aceh Sports Week (PORA).
"This stadium is not only for PORA, but also a long-term investment. After PORA, this stadium must continue to be useful for athlete development and serve as a public facility for the people of Aceh Jaya," said Aceh Regional Secretary M. Nasir, representing Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf.
The stadium will be the main venue for the 15th Aceh Sports Week (PORA) in 2026 in Aceh Jaya. Construction of the stadium is estimated to cost Rp 74 billion. In 2025, the Aceh Government allocated Rp 44 billion through a grant budget for the construction of the facility.
On that occasion, Nasir emphasized the importance of Aceh Jaya, as the host of PORA XV, focusing on four targets for success.
First, the successful construction of facilities and infrastructure. "It must be well planned so that all venues are completed on time for the PORA. After that, the buildings must also be functional for both performance development and community needs," Nasir added.
Second, the successful implementation. The facilities must be complete, the competition venues ready, and the event must meet standards. If the venues are not complete, the competition will also be a failure, and that means it won't be a success.
He added that a successful implementation will only be achieved if all competitions run smoothly without any cancellations. "There must be no chaos; that must be maintained," Nasir said.
Third, successful achievements. M. Nasir cited Aceh's achievement at the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra National Games (PON), where it achieved sixth place nationally after previously finishing 12th at the 2021 Papua PON.
"This wasn't achieved overnight, but through years of preparation. Thank God, we achieved the best ranking in Aceh's history in PON. I hope the Aceh Jaya KONI, along with the local government, will thoroughly prepare athletes so that after the PORA (National Sports Week) many Aceh Jaya athletes can compete in PON and international championships. That's an indicator of successful achievement," he explained.
Fourth, he considered administrative success to be the most vital. According to Nasir, successful development, implementation, and achievements are wasted when there are legal issues. "Thank God, from PORA to PORA, we have never had any problems, and that must be maintained."
The groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by Aceh Jaya Regent Safwandi S.Sos., Deputy Regent Muslem D SE., along with staff, and the Chairman of the Aceh Jaya MPU, Tgk. Hammadi, Chairman of KONI Aceh Jaya Muslim HS, and a number of heads of Aceh Work Units (SKPA).[]
