At Splinterlands, we are trying to do the same. We are trying to find the most efficient way to run a premier game, with a budget that is tenth of the budget of other crypto games in the ecosystem, and we are doing it with a decentralized governance and management AND we are doing it without any VC backing.
Most efficient way to get new money into the game
Lot of this is from US perspective, because getting fiat into crypto is not easy in the US. Yes, this is typical problems in a 3rd world country, which is the United States of America (believe it or not!). Anyways, I promise, I won't digress further.
Step 1
Open/Have a coinbase account. Most people attached to crypto in US likely have it already, but if not, open a coinbase account by going here:

Step 2
Connect your US bank account to coinbase. You can figure this out, and the tool will prompt you to do so, as you set up your account with all your personal information. Once you do that, you can buy all the crypto that is available on this centralized exchange. The important bit is, it is free to transfer USD from your bank account to purchase USDC, which is coinbase's own stable coin pegged to USD. This is the most important step to getting fiat into crypto for free within USA. As far as I know, there are no other way to get USD into crpto for free. All other method will charge you fees, which are sometimes quite a lot.
Step 3
In the search box, top right, if you put "SPS" nothing much happens, but do me a favor please put the full token address for SPS on base chain in the search box:

As soon as you put the token address and enter, SPS shows up and you want to click the "Get Coinbase Wallet" button.
Step 4
As soon as you do that, it wants you to create a coinbase wallet (different from your centralized coinbase exchange), or we can connect your existing metamask wallet (or any other standard wallet) to this app. This is a one-time-only process. Once you connect your wallet, it will stay connected, unless you manually disconnect it.
Metamask is a multi-chain wallet, which is convenient. The typical popular chains are Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Base, Polygon etc.
Step 5
This is another important step. You should purchase and transfer $2 worth of ETH on "base chain" to this wallet. Without a nominal amount of ETH on your base chain wallet, you can't make any transaction. Once you have that, you can now click on the "swap" button to the left. From is likely USDC (on base), to: you should put the SPS token contract address and SPS (on base) will show up.
Then you can click on "Find best price" blue button and a new pop-up will happen.
Yes, we understand the red "unknown value" is not a good thing for new users. @clayboyn is trying to fix that. But, for now, it is what it is!
Step 6
Once you click the swap button, you will get SPS in your wallet (on base). I am writing "on base" many times, because, remember we have SPS on ETH chain, BSC chain and now Base chain. They are all same token (but different addresses, and therefore different entity). So you can by mistake select a token on a different chain that that won't be ideal. Remember SPS on base chain is the blue 'circle' symbol at the lower right. That is different from SPS on ETH or BSC symbols.
Step 7
Connect your base chain wallet, in game just like you have done it for other chains.
After clicking manage wallet button, click the Base wallet option and add the wallet. Once you have done that, as you click transfer, Base wallet will also show up, with whatever balance you have on base.
Then you click transfer button. And bada-bing-bada-boom!
There you have it! I have just purchased $50 worth of SPS. I have received 5634 SPS.
Here is the other fact: Current price of 5634 SPS is 239.12098866 SWAP.HIVE ($47.883500).
So I am paying 4.2% premium buying SPS this way, even "without fee". That is the cost of slippage. That is not the 'fee' which is going to DAO. Fee is only 11 SPS. That 4.2% is the upcharge of price arbitrage between different chains.
