Splinterlands has held another successful Town Hall a few days ago and you can check out the recording here. There have been many things discussed about the upcoming features for Splinterlands and here are some of the topics that stood out to me the most.
Customizable Avatars
This is probably the feature I'm most hyped about. I personally think the avatar system in Splinterlands right now is too outdated with just limited options to choose from and you can't even upload your own images. Having these personalized options instead would be a great addition and I'm excited to create my own representation in the same artstyle of Splinterlands!
New Conclave Arcana Reward Cards and Mini Set
When I heard that there will be an incoming new set of reward cards, I was a bit sad because I will not be able to complete the current one as I have played my account just a few months back. I don't think it's reaching 10% to 20% completion rate at this moment. So I'm probably going to be missing out a lot when it ends and I might just have to buy a few key pieces in the market.
But what I'm excited about it though is the thought that just like the Frontier format, receiving reward cards that are unlocked and sellable in the market is a great idea and I hope they will push through with this thought. I would also like to see them implement the same quest system from Frontier where you get a reward for every five wins you get for the day. This will definitely be a good incentive to continue playing even in the lower leagues.
As for the mini set that will be paid, I don't think I'll be able to participate much in that one thought because it'll probably require a significant amount of investment to have a meaningful collection that will affect my performance in modern. As for now, I only rely on two elements, dragon and death, as my main decks and they are at the bronze levels.
Upcoming Land Features
Another thing that really became clear to me while watching the town hall is that land is one of the most important aspects of this game! As I hear news of new land cards and possible other stuff that can be harvested or minted through this process, I thought this is where the team really focuses the future of the game. But reading through the whitepaper for land, I also understand that it really requires a huge, huge amount of capital and in-game assets to delve into land. I also had regrets selling my couple lands that I bought and I might revisit investing into it once again if the opportunity presents itself.
A Solid Project Leadership
Above everything else, what really caught my attention while listening to the Town Hall is the great people behind Splinterlands. From Yabapmatt, to Nate, and Dave, they all seem to have a great working relationship with each other and I can tell they have a clear vision for Splinterlands' future. Out of all the web3 projects that I've been involved with in the past, I can say that the leadership behind Splinterlands is probably the best I've seen. There really is no comparison in terms of reputable developers as most of the other projects have anonymous identities which makes you really wary and not fully trust them. And this makes me very optimistic and confident that this project will succeed.
