Hello everyone!
After dropping my son off at school in the morning, I usually stop by SuperCheap, a hypermarket not far from both his school and our home. It’s one of my favorite places to grab breakfast and pick up a few things I need. What makes SuperCheap special is that it sells almost everything at prices lower than the average market. Many small business owners come here to buy ingredients or products in bulk for resale, which is why this place has become so popular among local vendors and regular shoppers alike. 🛒
SuperCheap is a famous local hypermarket chain that started in Phuket and later expanded to Phang Nga. It’s a huge store (the main branch in Phuket Town is like a giant warehouse) where you can find almost everything: from groceries, fresh produce, and household goods to electronics, clothes, motorbike parts, and even furniture — all at affordable prices.
It has a very local vibe — unlike Central or Big C, this is more like a giant market-meets-superstore. Many locals shop here for their daily needs, and it’s popular among small business owners because you can buy in bulk at cheaper rates.
The main Phuket branch was once a massive warehouse-style building that unfortunately burned down in 2013, but it was rebuilt and is still a key shopping destination.
In the early morning, SuperCheap is already buzzing with life. The aisles are filled with people — some grabbing fresh ingredients for the day, others stocking up on household essentials. There’s a lively, almost market-like atmosphere here, but with the convenience of a giant store. It’s fascinating to see how locals, small business owners, and even curious visitors all gather in this one place. 🌞
I often come here for the ready-to-eat meals, which are not only delicious but also incredibly affordable. From simple Thai breakfasts to hearty local dishes, there’s always something tempting to take home (or enjoy right away!). It’s one of those little pleasures that keeps me coming back. 😋
Here, you’ll find a wide variety of freshly cooked meals alongside countless types of snacks and desserts. From flavorful Thai curries and stir-fries to sweet traditional treats, the selection is almost endless. It feels like a mix between a local food market and a food court — all under one roof! 🍛🍮
They even sell durian here at prices cheaper than the local markets — and that’s perfect for me because durian is my absolute favorite fruit! 🥰 But there’s one little problem… I can’t open it myself! With those sharp, spiky shells, it’s definitely not an easy task. So I only buy durian from places where the seller kindly peels it for me. As much as I’d love to grab some here, I’ll have to pass unless I bring someone to help me out. 5555 😄
One of my favorite sections to visit is the garden and plant area. There are always so many beautiful flowers and plants on display, and I love taking my time to browse through them. If something truly catches my eye, I never hesitate to bring it home. 🌸 It’s like a little oasis tucked inside this bustling hypermarket!
Right next to the plant section is the aquarium and pet fish area, which I also love visiting. I’ve always had a soft spot for fish — especially betta fish — and I’ve even bought a few in the past. Sadly, I could never keep them alive for long, so I eventually stopped buying them. Still, I really enjoy just watching all the colorful species on display. Even if I don’t take any home, it’s always relaxing to admire them. 🐠
Every visit to SuperCheap feels like a little adventure — whether I’m there for breakfast, hunting for good deals, or just wandering through my favorite sections. It’s more than just a hypermarket; it’s a place full of life, variety, and local charm. So if you ever find yourself in Phuket or Phang Nga, make sure to stop by and experience it for yourself. Who knows? You might end up loving it as much as I do. 😉
