Tomorrow is Diwali, an important festival in India that is believed to eradicate dark forces andd fill our homes with good forces. There is a strong belief that anything that is done on the date of Diwali is a good start and people pray many gods on this day and start good activities. Diwali is celebrated no only in India but also by Indians across the world. In north India this is celebrated by lighting lamps in the house. In south India we have a different occasion for lighting lamps in the house which is called Karthigai Deepam but even during Diwali we light some lamps.

People also do a lot of good deeds on this day by sharing food with other needy people and sharing their love and affection with the other beings. People celebrate it differently in different parts of India.

Celebrations

Diwali is celebrated by sharing sweets and snacks with friends and family members. People buy new dress and new items for the house on this auspecious occasion. We usually wake up early in the morning and take oil bath which is considered to be equal to taking bath in Ganges. There is also a practice where people celebrate diwali by visiting the friends house. In the last few decades, people also sit and watch some good programs in Television. Today after OTT platforms became famous, people don't watch more TV but try to spend more time on other activities.

Bursting crackers is another biggest thing on this day. Government have provided some guidelines on when crackers should be burst and how it should be done but it is hard to follow all those rules properly and in many places across India it is not followed properly. We will be able to hear the sound of crackers even during the middle of the night. One biggest problem is the smoke and many people feel sick during this occasion and especially kids.

I still remember my childhood Diwali where I used to burst a lot of crackers and every Diwali I end up doing something mischievious. I remember that in one of the Diwali festival my father bought me a TV video game and I will never forget that Diwali occasion which was in my 6th grade. The reason is because that was the year I also burnt my hand till my wrist.
