In MoonKarts, your kart’s performance doesn’t just come from how well you drive—it’s deeply tied to the cards you own. And to really stand out, you’ll want to master card rarities and how merging (upgrading) works. I’ve reviewed the official docs and community write-ups to lay it out plainly.
The Rarity Hierarchy: Common → Rare → Epic → Legendary
All MoonKarts cards fall into four rarity tiers.
- Common: The most accessible cards. They offer baseline attributes and are vital for getting started in races.
- Rare: Harder to acquire than common, these cards carry stronger stat boosts and possibly special perks.
- Epic: A further leap—epic cards offer significant advantages, sometimes game-changing abilities.
- Legendary: The rarest of the rare. Legendary cards boast the highest stats and unique traits. These are typically earned only through major events, top ranking, or special activities
Additionally, there’s a Gold Foil version of every card. When a card appears as Gold Foil, it delivers bonus rewards, and less of that card is required to level it up.
Merging Cards: Leveling Up Your Assets
Having a high-rarity card is good—but unless you upgrade it, it won’t reach its full potential. That’s where card merging comes in. In MoonKarts, you combine multiple copies of the same card to create a higher-level version.
Here’s how it works in practice:
- You need identical cards (same rarity and type) to merge.
- When you merge, the card’s stats increase. It may also unlock improved or additional abilities.
- Gold Foil versions benefit more from merging: fewer copies are required, and you get enhanced bonuses.
Merging is essential not just for raw power—but also for earning potential. Cards with higher rarity and higher levels tend to yield more rewards in races.
Why Rarity + Merging Matter in MoonKarts
At first glance, you might think “just get rare or legendary cards and race.” But without merging, even a legendary card stays at base level and underperforms. The real edge comes from the synergy of rarity and upgrades.
By collecting duplicates and merging them smartly, you raise your cards’ ceiling. Gold Foil cards accelerate that process. Over time, your deck becomes more efficient, more robust, and more rewarding in competitive races.
