Holo holo~~ It's been a while since I last posted here! How's everyone? In the spirit of inktober and zingtober, I think I can only participate with the encircled prompt words ^^ To do both would be overkill for my hands, eyes and brain XD So for now, I'll try to take it easy this year because October I already plotted out for me and I have no idea when I can really take a break ;;-;;
For the deer prompt, it was quite literal and I wanted to do a cute Naara because I don't think I've ever drawn this one since it was introduced.

For the progression, I started with the background I wanted ^^ I wanted to do like a single spectra in the browns and orange in the spirit of the cozy season ^^ And since I thought Naara was just really good as an autumn baby too. So from background, then the Naara sketch, base color then a bit of coloring the parts. I actually took a while with the sketch cuz I have never drawn a deer before either so this is definitely new to my hands
After the base colors, I went into the little details only I would probably notice XD So I layered up the fur from a light brown up to a darker brown then I had to keep adjusting the color map... a lot just to unify the colors and not make Naara that obvious. IDK I like the harmony I can bring to the color scheme and I kept doing that as I worked up the details and the color layers. It was more the mapping that really ate my time and not so much the drawing in itself. IDK I just had a hard time balancing the colors that were visually on the same level for me. So with each layer, that ate like... 3-5 minutes of trial and error for me. It was worth it though ^^
In the end, I made a cozy and pretty Naara UwU
And that is my first Zingtober entry this month! I will be working on the next concept while I work on my original inktober
I hope your inktober and zingtober is going along? Cuz mine seems to be a little problematic this year ;;-;; But oh well, we must persist! I shall see you guys again a little later for my inktober! Hopefully I can finish that one too!
