A Trip ın Van City - Türkiye

During my recent trip to Van, the easternmost gem of Türkiye and also my beloved hometown, I spent a peaceful morning walking along the lakeside. The crisp mountain air and the soft rhythm of the waves created a perfect start to the day. I stopped at a local café that’s known not just for its coffee, but for how it’s served. The coffee came in a miniature copper cezve placed over a small burner, keeping it hot while you slowly sip and savor. It’s a charming experience that turns a simple cup into a quiet ritual.

Later, I visited a porcelain shop tucked into a side street. I always enjoy finding beautiful, meaningful gifts for my friends, and this place felt like a treasure chest. There were delicate porcelain pieces shaped like samovars, some intricately painted bowls, elegant lidded boxes, and plates that looked like they belonged in a museum.

I selected four porcelain plates to send as gifts. Each one has its own personality—one with a deep blue tulip pattern, another with gold-rimmed edges and tiny pomegranates, a third with a geometric motif in Van’s traditional style, and the last, a minimalist piece in soft ivory with a single hand-drawn crane. These plates aren't just decorative—they tell stories.

There’s something truly joyful in sending gifts that carry a bit of home, a bit of art, and a lot of heart. I hope each plate brings a smile and a little piece of Van to those who receive them.
