A huge thank you to everyone who commented on my last post with support. I am sorry that I didn’t reply to everyone, but I went AWOL from online life altogether for a week or so!
Going offline was an absolute god send. I decided to book a spot away in the woods at Clumber park, Nottinghamshire, organised care for my bulldogs, packed my stuff, grabbed Sasha (my 13 year old German Shepherd) and we disappeared off into the woods!
“Clumber Park is a country park in The Dukeries near Worksop in the civil parish of Clumber and Hardwick, Nottinghamshire, England. The estate, which was the seat of the Pelham-Clintons, Dukes of Newcastle, was purchased by the National Trust in 1946. It is listed Grade I on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens” - Wikipedia
We literally had no mobile phone signal (cell reception for my American friends) and no internet. The first day was very strange. I would have previously said that I don’t rely heavily on technology, however it soon became apparent that I access the internet regularly on a daily basis. So day 1 was a true reset day.
Day 2, I was much calmer and my head was quieter. I suffer with adult ADHD which has only just recently been realised, even though my son and my brother both have diagnosis’, my adhd shows in different ways so has never been picked up until recently. Switching off from technology appeared to calm my brain overload and my internal dialog was more focused. Still loud, but more focused.
Day 3, I have to admit I was kinda bored from just existing and resetting. I had read a book and been on small walks with Sasha, but I decided it was time to go have some exploration fun! So off we went into the woods!
Here are a few shots I took on my phone as we were wandering…
We eventually stumbled across Clumber lake…
And after a good 4 hours of exploring, we were ready to head back to the caravan for a cup of tea and a biscuit!
This really was a much needed break. I cannot recommend a full life reset enough. It has calmed my mind and helped me to refocus on what is important. I also spent quality time with my old girl Sasha who is almost 13 and who knows how much longer we have together, so I now have some amazing memories with her 🥰
Thank you again for all your amazing support, I love you guys!
Much love, Cheryl and Sasha xx
