Helo friends, I want to shear with you my experience as a secondary school teacher.
Firstly my name is Angel, am a secondary school teacher in Nigeria.
teaching is my hubby, it is one of things I enjoy most doing.
I am a teacher today because of the passion I have for teaching which I started from my secondary school days. As my secondary school DSP (Deputy senior Prefect). I go to my jenior classes during my free period to teach them and I enjoyed doing it.
MY EXPERIENCE:
1) You must be hardworking; teaching is one of the profession that needs hardworking.
a. Waking up early to prepare for school
b. Preparing your lesson note for the day.
c. Shouting even when you are tired
d. Marking of assignments
e. Working on register, dairy etc
2) SACRIFICE: If you are not ready to sacrifice, teaching is not for you. Eg. You will sacrifice your time, imagine coming to school by 7am and geting home by 6:30pm,
3) TOLERANCE: I have come to understand that tolerance should be the first, if you can't tolorent please don't near teaching. Students can provoke you, your co teachers will also and even some school management can talk to you anyhow even in the presence of students and parents
4) Fully prepared before entering class. If you want to stay relevant and maintain your respect from student, you must be prepared and ready for questions. There are students that will deliberately ask you question in other to throw you off balance, but when you are prepared, you stand out. Honestly the pay in teaching most times, doesn't worth the sacrifice but in all, it is one of the best. Because our input is helping, shaping future generations. May God bless all teachers
