None of us are the same person we used to be and in the present moment none of us the person we will be in the future.
Everything changes around us including other people, society generally, the rules and laws that govern us, the influences and influencers, our financial and social status, where we go and what we do...and why; these, and so many other things, constantly change around us and along with that change comes a change within ourselves.

I was reminded of this after spending some time with a group made up of true friends, acquaintances and some I didn't know very well.
It was a nice afternoon celebrating the birthday of one of the girls and I came away thinking how fun it was but also about how I've changed; I thought about what was important in the past has become unimportant and how other things I'd never given much thought to had started become a blip on my radar. I suppose that comes with age, I'm not in my 20's anymore after all. Of course, that reminded me of how much I've changed and how I will change in the future.
I'm lucky to have matured quite quickly and have worked towards the things I felt were important like my ongoing physical and emotional health and financial security so I'm in a good position; but in my observations at the event, I couldn't help but shake my head and wonder how some of those people might get on as they started to get older; there seemed a total disregard for the fact that things around them were changing and that if personal changes are not made a person could be seriously inhibited in life later on. It's like they were oblivious.
Change is inevitable and all a person can do is embrace it, work around or with it, and make the personal changes required to navigate the journey. We each have the ability to choose to change, improve, grow and develop along with the changing world and society around us; we just need to want to.
