20 million....going, gone.

It is said that dreams come about from a multitude of thoughts. Some even claim that any unfinished physical activity is completed in the dream. But when I dreamt my own dream, it was neither of the above and just like “brother Joseph the steamer”, my dream was vivid but unreal. Let me share it below. I went to bed that grateful night in the year 2020 after the lockdown was lifted. As I recall, many companies were on lockdown and many employees struggled during that period.   I  was among those who didn't find it easy that year. Schools were on lockdown and there was no hope of  salary  for months. I had to improvise by offering home tutoring to several kids. I came back home after classes that day, rounded up my chores and went to bed. The next thing was that I saw myself  walking on a very busy road but no one was paying attention to me. I kept walking under the hot sun until a call came on my phone.  The caller turned out to be a  paternal uncle who lived abroad. I quickly picked up the call and we got talking. This uncle asked me about how I was fairing and about my siblings. Then he finalized by asking me to come see him during the weekend, to which I replied in the affirmative. The weekend came like a breeze and I saw myself at the address of my uncle.  I knocked on the door and a maid ushered me in. I was served cold 5alive juice and some chinchin, which I gladly munched on. After a few minutes, my uncle came into the sitting room where I was seated and we got talking, with him asking me questions and me answering his questions like a pro. Then he called his assistant to bring his check booklet. Trust me, when I heard check booklet, my heartbeat began to pace faster than usual.  I had to place a hand on my chest to calm my nerves. It was like this uncle heard all my secret prayers and he wants to answer it for me. I sat on the edge of my seat as I watched him open the check book and began to write on it. He wrote the sum of 20 million naira on it and I swear my intestines  were singing *My helper o, my helper*  while my head began to swell. I was already thinking of what to do with that huge amount when I heard a sickly sound   I looked up to see my uncle holding his chest, crying out in pain. Startled, I called for help and  their family doctor was quickly called to attend to him. It turns out that he suffered a heart attack and while the doctor was treating him, he gave up the ghost. I didn't cry nor wail. I just went back to the sitting room table to look at the check and that was when I discovered that he was yet to append his signature on the check. *”Ooooooh, what kind of heart attack is this? It could have allowed uncle Limca to sign this check of 20 million naira first na..ooooh, mtchewww”*, I said as I held the check, looking at it with pain in my eyes.  I walked back to the room where the doctor was about to wrap his body for it to be sent to the mortuary when I woke up and found myself on my bed. *”What kind of a dream is this? Maybe it is a prophecy”*, I said and quickly knelt down to pray. Thinking back on this dream after some months,I could not help but laugh at how silly it was. I had no paternal uncle who lived abroad. My father's only brother lives in Ilorin,  Kwara State till date. I laughed again because I knew that God is not so wicked as to lift my hopes and then dash it by allowing me to see a check of 20 million naira being written and yet not signed.   Maybe it was the struggle getting to me then that led to that dream or maybe not but whichever it is, it was very hilarious when I woke up and I don't wish to have a season two of it. ********** Thank you all for reading.
