Neighbourly touch >> My expecrience with neighbours.

Let's face the truth, we all need somebody. We all got to where we are now through someone's help, connection, support or advice. This firmly shows that we can not truly be on our own. A neighbour is that  person that lives close to you or next door to you. I am also aware that there are people with lovely angelic neighbours and some others with nasty neighbours that living with such people becomes a burden. ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmVFP14iUJe1wFLC5RzpfyMGZbZNSFWWx9bS9HfbtpVrm8/1755536627802.jpg) I recently moved out of a compound I had spent six years in. We were only four tenants with the landlord making us five altogether. Initially, we were cool and I opened up myself to trust them but soon, their true colours began to show up. I was shocked  at the level of betrayals and schemes that they plotted against themselves.   As the newbie amongst them, all I did was sit on the fence and make peace whichever way that I could.  A time came, I dreaded going back home. I would stay outside with friends chatting until 10pm, so that I could avoid their nasty quarrels.  Soon, when their schemes got to me, I had no choice but to put everyone in their place. We only exchanged greetings and that was all. I couldn't even leave my daughter at home and feel at ease. Thankfully, the landlord increased his rent beyond my paying ability and I had to quit that compound this year in March. It is said that *every disappointment is a blessing*. I think this has proven true for me because tin the new apartment where I am currently staying, the neighbours I met have been wonderful so far.  I initially wanted to play the *mind your business* card with them and this would have been possible since we each stayed in our separate flats with no way of interaction but the signs I saw made me rethink my approach and mannerism with them. Upon moving into this current residence, my neighbour's have been excellent to say the least. Sometimes when I am not at home, they help bring in my washed and dried clothes to prevent it getting wet from the rain. My neighbour's are very friendly yet they know their boundaries and no one over-steps. Some weeks ago while cooking very early to prepare for work, my cooking gas got exhausted. Without fear, I knocked on the door of my neighbour and related my dilemma to her. She quickly went inside and brought out her 3kg cylinder gas forme to use. That act saved me and my stomach that day and I was truly grateful to her. ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmSN56YfHqAYtLjafhkwgdXoV7YT1VbmUJYbD7y9wAA5HM/1755536719600.jpg) Just last week, my neighbour's son from upstairs flat, decided to make African salad for his family. I only saw him once downstairs when he was peeling the cassava and I mentioned my interest in whatever he was making casually. I could not believe my eyes when two days later, he knocked on my door and presented me with a plate of rich African salad (abacha). I was so delighted that after eating, I bought him cold Pepsi drink as a way of reciprocating his gesture. This was something I would never do in the previous compound where I used to live. I can say for a fact that I can trust my current neighbours with my home and even my daughter because I know for a fact that they will not over-step  their boundaries, should there be something urgent that comes my way. As happy as I am with my current neighbours, I can assure you all that it takes two to tango. I am a lover of peace, serenity and tranquility. I don't scheme against others just to curry favour. I detest trouble making but I don't run from trouble either and I know my bounds and also respect the boundaries of others. Hence, I know that I am the kind of neighbour that I would like to live with. ******** Thank you all for reading. This is my entry to the hivelearners initiative for w179e1. Image are mine.
