Currently, the world is vying for male and females to be treated equally and not have any form of differentiation. To be honest, I feel the female folk feel marginalized and that is why they clamour for gender equity.
In order to fully grasp an understanding of this week's hl prompt, I went online to search for meanings and this definition caught my eye….
>*Gender equity refers to the fairness and justice in the distribution of resources, opportunities, and benefits between men and women. It aims to address the disparities and inequalities that exist between genders, ensuring that everyone has equal access to education, healthcare, employment, and other aspects of life*

If according to the definition above, the world is clamouring for gender equity, then I feel it is right and proper. I recall some bit of African history when females were regarded as unimportant and therefore prohibited from aiming as high as their male folks.
Female children were considered to be weak in everything and that made some families and cultures disregard their existence. It wasn't until a few decades ago that the value of women began to shine as a bright light, through the dark barrier placed by some societies and cultures on them.
To the average man or woman, gender equity might mean sharing everything equally, as in 50-50 but truth be told, there are certain things that men can do comfortably that women cannot do. A good example is that a man can walk on the street shirtless but a woman cannot do that lol.
With this average mentality of what equity means to the average man or woman, it could lead to problems in the family and society at large especially when finances are involved. *Sincerely speaking, this whole gender equity thing stems from finances and not work*.
Gender equity preaches justice and fairness to be duly given to the one who deserves it irrespective of gender. This means that a man and a woman that apply for a job should both be treated equally with no preferential treatment to the man or the woman but we all know that this is not always the case.
Some shady and immoral bosses end up doing immoral things with the female job applicant before she can be given a job. Where is the fairness in that? I would like to use an outstanding woman in my country as a case study. She happens to be the current president of a popular bank in Nigeria.
When I learnt about her promotion, the first thing that I went to check out were her credentials and trust me guys, I was blown away. She is a woman with four kids who has multiple degrees in Chartered accounting plus multiple masters degrees. To put it simply, I was flabbergasted but one thing was clear to me, she deserved the promotion for having read so well and distinguished herself and not just because she has a pretty face.
Gender equity might be possible in several aspects like jobs, education and even in politics but I doubt that it would work on the home front.
You see the home is a divinely instituted organization with God as the head and He has given the husband, the wife and the children specific roles. Problems crop up when one part is not fulfilling their role.
A wife is a help-meet not a business partner. I laugh when I hear some men say that they split the bills in their family 50-50. They really don't understand hierarchy and how God made things out to be in the home.

Personally, I believe that all humans are equal before God our creator but when it comes to families, there is a distinction of roles. This is why a man cannot get pregnant or give birth. So also a woman cannot ejaculate sperm from her privates. We are unique and different and it is a good thing. All we need is a tacit understanding of the roles we play in our families.
As a man and a husband, outrightly demanding for an equal split in bills is not manly at all. For the woman agreeing to such does not show loyalty but a business transaction and that means the home is no longer a home but a business organization. The day one party fails to meet their end of the bargain, separation would be the next agenda.

In summary, gender equity does not apply to the home or family as each person has their roles to play but in society, it is only right that we be fair and just to the whom we interact with, not preferring one gender over the other.
