I love receiving gifts from my family, friends and loved ones and I also make sure to reciprocate the gesture when it counts. Every person has their unique taste which I believe influences the kind of gift that they would gift out and even appreciate receiving.

As a minimalist, it is not the size, weight or monetary value of a gift that matters to me. What matters to me * is the thought behind each gift*. I appreciate gifts that are well thought out and not something that was picked at random simply to please me.
Personally, I dislike clutter and as such, I won't be happy with a gift that would take up a lot of my home space as I am always looking for ways to declutter stuff around my house regularly, so as to have enough space.

If as a friend, you get me a gift that is not functional but would just be kept somewhere in my home until God knows when, then I would conclude that such a friend doesn't know me too well.
As much as I appreciate the thought behind a gift given, I will also appreciate if that gift will be functional (something I can use frequently). This principle is what informs and inspires my choice while picking out gifts for my friends and loved ones.
Since I am aware that it is the thought that counts, I naturally put great effort when picking out a gift for a loved one. Three months ago, I ordered a gift on Jumia for a dear friend of mine who recently tied the knot this month.

*This is a screenshot of the kettle from Jumia app*
The gift I got was a simple electric kettle for her kitchen but I put a lot of thought into choosing the gift because I know that as a new bride, she would require the use of such a utensil in her home.
I knew I made a great choice when I got a text from her telling me that she appreciates my thoughtful gift. That feedback warmed my heart.
In the month of June, I celebrated my birthday and a very thoughtful gift was given to me by a dear friend. Before he sent the gift over, he had called me to ask what I would prefer between a customized mug or a customized water bottle.

Without having to think much, I knew my choice already and went for it. I chose the customized water bottle because of its functionality to me as well as the thought behind it. It isn't the kind of gift that would clutter my space.
Some other thoughtful gifts that I could decide to gift my friends and loved ones could be *art paintings*, *tickets to a concert to see their favourite perform*, *simple jewelry* and even *fruits*. Depending on their tastes and preferences.
I believe that these gifts speak volumes and also expresses thoughtfulness without leading to a risk of cluttering their homes.

These are also gifts that I would appreciate a lot if gifted to me, especially the fruits, hehe.
