Prologue
When I first heard about "Global Warming" as a rule, I thought "Well, okay, another noxious fumes." Yeah, well, it's absolutely not. I noticed that when I tried using immune creatures in that rule-set, and they became ashes like the rest. It also happened when I used cleanse - the monster just caught fire again from it's still burning neighbor. So, battling with burns a is a little more complicated than I had thought. In this post, I present three strategies that worked out really well.
#### Heal, heal, heal.
The ideas in this one are quite similar between the opponent and I. We both use Martyrs to die first and boost our other monsters. While the opponent goes for Quora, which is usually a great choice, I used the good old "Llama + Kron" combination, with a high LP monster with heal in the front, too. And since the Llama has "Cleanse", it works out nicely for my team. Summoner boosts are activated from the beginning, so my Flesh Golem gets sunscreen right away. The extra health and the Last Stand were what made the difference in the end, as Quora had only gotten one Bloodlust.
#### Can't burn what's burning
I've used this one generally in the way that @seattlea describes in his latest post, putting two burning monsters in the rear as the fire can only spread one way. Same goes for Global Warming.
Now, in this one, the enemy has a really good idea - a lot of sneak monsters, using the burn to trigger the Enraged of 4 of their monsters, and with Rust to make it even easier to break my team down. Only thanks to a few missed attacks against my Agor Longtail (enraged and flying!), I manage to win this one. Meaning, using burn to trigger Enrage is a great idea!
But my strategy worked out better. Since the Lily Shieldpaw has Triage, she will always heal the most-injured monster in the back row at the end of the turn. But my Arachne Weaver is always the last to act, and the Corrupted Healing gets all the other monsters back to a reduced, but then maximum health. And then, the Weaver's burn gets healed. Works like a charm in this one!
#### Enjoying some crispy BBQ...
In this one, I already have the weaver on max, so it has Scavenger. That works really well with High-Death-Rule-Sets like Noxious Fumes and, of course, Global Warming. As long as I keep the death rate at 2 monsters or more per round, the Weaver is happy with munching on the perfectly grilled corpses. The second one that works nicely is the Shadowfey Sheik. It only needs one round of burning, and the Painforge allows it to Life Leech 2 LP with every successful attack - and it's only growing stronger. Unfortunately, in this match the enemy is not at the same level as my cards, but still - it would've gone a long way. Also, you can see here that Immune doesn't do anything good for the monsters.
#### Conclusion
Global warming is a fun addition to the library of rule-sets, as it does change the game-play a lot and allows for a whole new world of strategies. I'm sure I'll be discovering a lot more with every time I play it.
