I've just joined the 50k Hive Power holders club on the Hive blockchain

I finally did it and succeeded to join the 50k Hive Power holders club on the Hive blockchain. And it was quite a lengthy journey, with challenges, but also accomplishments and a rainbow at the end of it. I’ve been around the Hive blockchain for quite a while now since 2017, back when the ecosystem and also the crypto space itself was way in the earlier days. Over the years, I’ve seen the ups and downs, the forks, the changes, the challenges, the debates and the growth. Today feels like a personal milestone worth sharing as I’ve officially crossed 50,000 Hive Power (HP) staked. And I don't intend to stop anytime soon as my goal is to reach at least Orca level (I need at least 56k Hive Power for that, if not more as I didn't do any additional calculation based on more recent numbers).

How I discovered Hive and why I stayed here

My journey into crypto started in 2017 when I've built a rig and started mining Ethereum. That was quite lucrative, but in the same time it was 99.99% passive. The crypto space was in a bull run and there was hype everywhere. So in those times I was expanding my crypto knowledge and adhering to different blockchain projects. And of them was Hive blockchain, a platform where you can blog and share the passion about anything in general and in my case crypto and finance in special. I started knowing different great people which today can be called Legends on Hive and through their support and guidance I've grown as well. And with all the turbulence around me, with all the mistakes and lessons learned that I've experienced, I am still here because of the inner values of this ecosystem and its purpose embedded in the code (yes, code and not people as those tend to do mistakes and even go into politics). And along the way, I've invested and grabbed Hive left and right and simply staked it until I got today to a BIG AND BEAUTIFULL NUMBER OF 50K (even better than the Big Beautiful Bill 😀).

Why I care about governance

One of the coolest things about Hive is that it’s a community driven blockchain. Unlike traditional platforms where decisions come from the top down, Hive’s governance is decentralized. Even if you might not have big power on your own, when more people unite they can drive change and influence the future of this ecosystem. By staking Hive into Hive Power, I get to cast votes for witnesses, DHF proposals and also participate in decision making that impacts everyone on the platform. Crossing 50k HP feels like stepping into a bigger league and I hope my voice will carry more weight when it comes to these governance choices. This way I can support projects that I like and believe in. And since I’ve been here since 2017, it feels good to know my involvement has grown along with the chain itself.

Power and curation at once

One of the most exciting parts of having more Hive Power is the influence it brings on content curation. Every time I upvote a post or comment, my HP determines how much that upvote is worth in rewards. With 50k HP, my votes now have a much stronger impact, which means I can really support creators I enjoy reading or watching. This is a win-win as creators get bigger rewards when I upvote them, but also I earn a share of the curation rewards for supporting good content. It feels like being both a reader and an owner in the same time. On top of that voting Witnesses and DHF proposals is where power is shown and where one can drive funds to the right projects.

Rewards that compound over time

Staking Hive into Hive Power isn’t just about power and governance, but it is also about rewards that build up steadily. Every day, I’m earning curation rewards from my voting activity and also benefitting from the overall inflation distribution on the network (~3.03 - 13%). The more Hive Power I hold, the more those rewards accumulate, which makes it easier to keep compounding my stake over time. Reaching 50k HP didn’t happen overnight and it was years of powering up, reinvesting rewards and being somehow consistent. That’s one of the things I like about Hive: it rewards patience and active participation. It remains just the price to catch up with it 😃 and everything should be good and played out as planned.

Crossing the 50k HP mark feels like joining a new club on Hive, a group of people who’ve shown long-term commitment to this blockchain. For me, it’s more than just a round number. It’s a sign of how far I’ve come since first joining it in 2017. It’s proof that daily actions like posting, curating, staking, all really do add up.

If you’re just getting started on Hive, my advice is simple: don’t underestimate Hive Power. Even small amounts staked today can grow into something meaningful over time. Being present, active, creating content and curating periodically are the things that will push you forward and get you to the desired destination.
