Splinterlands, Splinterlands, Splinterlands... a real where only true warriors make it. And when it comes to myself I am a warrior of chaos, a warrior of wilderness, a warrior with a gang formed from the old times like a band of loyal fighters. And because of that usually I get into the Wild gameplay mode as my warriors perform the best there. That comes with a season fee of 2,000 DEC but with some high victories I should cover that in few days. I am quite thrilled to get back into the fighting as fresh battles are waiting me ahead. Time to strategize, time to use my best warriors depending on the battle rules and a time to have some fun and forget about any problems from the real life. Full immersion where the mind only thinks to put the right pieces on the table that will win the game. Here I go in a new season in the Wild format hoping to break through the chaos and make the most of it. See you on the other side at the end of it with the spoils of war. May the brave be victorious!
Ranked battles are the real play2earn engine
While I am earning in Splinterlands through different methods like staking and land, I strongly believe that the ranked battles are the true play2earn engine that is driving this entire game forward. And for me the Wild gameplay mode is where my oldest NFT cards are put to better use. Some of them I’ve been holding since 2017, back when the words "NFT" or “GameFi” weren’t even being thrown around yet. Every time I summon them into battle, I feel that I have the advantage and also they bring some sweet bonus being from the Alpha and Beta times.
Marching into the new season
Playing into Wild comes with a 2,000 DEC fee so I am trying to time my march into the new season in order to capture the maximum of battles that I can make. Not that I do that because the lack of time, but at least at a psychological level I have the option to achieve the maximum out of this equation. The Wild format may not bring the best rewards, but for a veteran like me playing it with the cards from a different decade, is just the right place. Besides earning Glint and SPS from each ranked battle, there are also the rewards granted when going into an upper League. I find that harder and harder to achieve, but on the other side it feels much better when that happens.
Staking and building for the long game
I've lost the chance back in the days to sell my NFTs and SPS in Splinterlands and get rich for that time, but I am still here and grinding and playing the long game. Thus any ranked battle in the Wild format gets me more Splintershards that I simply stake over and over again. I have belief that at some point this entire ecosystem will rise again and that avid gamers will discover once again the assets from here and the value that SPS captures. And when that time comes, I will be prepared and ready to rumble. But until that happens I will simply fight-fight-fight, build-build-build, stake-stake-stake.
My mindset adapted and metamorphosed together with how crypto evolved in these years. I am not anymore waiting for x10 or x100 gains, but rather steady growing and earning. From this point of view I can say that Splinterlands became for me more than play2earn and it is rather play2grow. Each season improves my skills, let me strategies and optimize more and strengthens my portfolio. The battles may be fierce in the Wild format but the long term rewards are even sweeter. And that's the game that I am playing, the long game!
