[ENG/DE] Swinging the palm trees - Sri Lanka’s Instafamous Hotspot

Dalawella Beach: I already mentioned how beautiful and empty the beach was, that we visited when I went snorkeling with a huge turtle. It is located a 10 minutes tuk tuk drive from Unawatuna. I found it to be one of the most scenic beaches I had seen so far! When you walk along the beach in western direction, you will find the instafamous palm tree swing right in front of the Dream Cabanas hostel. Even though it’s one of Sri Lanka’s most famous hotspots for taking pictures there was nobody there, except for the guys who build it - I guess we were just lucky. If you walk in eastern direction you will come across Rathna guest house - a great spot for relaxed music, fruit shakes and renting surfboards.
Galawatta Cabanas: These little beach bungalows were my absolute favorite accomodation at Dalawella beach! For around 30$ per person, you will get a spacious wooden cabana directly at the beach. They are not very luxurious from within but though nice and comfortable. Normally the sea is quite rough in Sri Lanka, which is why it’s a good spot for surfers. But here a huge rock formation in the water blocks the waves around 50 meters before the beach and forms a natural calm swimming pool right in front of the hotel. The steward serves breakfast each morning directly on the cabanas’s terrace. Can you imagine anything better than having breakfast with a scenic beach view, watching surfers catching the waves?

Dalawella Strand: Ich habe bereits erwähnt, wie wunderschön und leer dieser Strand war, als ich dort mit einer riesigen Schildkröte geschnorchelt bin. Er liegt eine 10-minütige Tuktuk Fahrt von Unawatuna entfernt. Ich fand diesen Strand einer der malerischsten, die ich bislang gesehen habe. Wenn ihr den Strand in westlicher Richtung entlang lauft, werdet ihr die auf Instagram bereits berühmt Palmenschaukel direkt vor dem Dream Cabanas Hotel finden. Obwohl dies bereits einer von Sri Lankas bekanntesten Fotospots ist, war niemand da außer die Jungs, die sie gebaut haben - ich schätze wir hatten einfach Glück. Wenn ihr Richtung Osten lauft, kommt ihr am Rathna Guesthouse vorbei - einem tollen Ort für relaxte Musik, Fruchtshakes und das Ausleihen von Surfbrettern.
Galawatta Bungalows: Die kleinen Strandhütten sind meine absolute Lieblingsunterkunft am Dalawella Beach. Für rund 30$ pro Person bekommt man eine großzügige Holzhütte direkt am Strand. Die Hütten sind nicht besonders luxuriös ausgestattet, aber dennoch schön und komfortabel. Normalerweise ist das Meer relativ rau in Sri Lanka, weshalb es ein guter Spot für Surfer ist. Aber hier blockiert eine große Felsformation im Wasser die Wellen schon 50 ca. Meter vor dem Strand und formt ein ruhiges natürliches Schwimmbecken direkt vor dem Hotel. Der Hotelsteward bringt einem das Frühstück jeden Morgen direkt auf die Terrasse des Bungalows. Gibt es etwas schöneres, als ein Frühstück mit malerischem Meerblick und dabei Surfer dabei zu beobachten wie sie die Wellen bezwingen?
