I have visited this place several times and each time has been a wonderful experience that has allowed me to observe the beautiful landscape and enjoy being in contact with nature. At the beginning of June, I went with my son on a cloudy day. We walked, exercised on the machines, watched the sunset, and saw a cute dog walking with his doggy dad, very relaxed along the shore. On this occasion, our visit was unplanned. We were visiting a friend. When we passed by the monument and saw that the sun was not so intense, we decided to get off the bus and walk for a while along the shore.
There were several birds soaring through the sky, they looked beautiful as they glided and descended to the sea, perhaps to fish or bathe. We got as close as we could and managed to take some photos of these beautiful birds in flight. Then we went to the machinery area and sat in the viewpoint. The breeze and the sound of the sea were perfect for relaxing.

El sector el monumento es un espacio creado para la recreación y esparcimiento familiar, se ubica en la avenida perimetral carretera nacional Cumaná - Carúpano y ofrece una espectacular vista al mar, cuenta además con un paseo aeróbico, dos monumentos (a los cuales debe su nombre), una amplia caminería, un muro o mirador que bordea la playa, desde donde puedes observar la impresionante vista del mar que parece unirse con el cielo en la inmensidad, la familia y visitantes tienen en el monumento áreas para divertirse y relajarse, en los últimos meses se han incorporado varias canchas donde los jóvenes y amantes de los deportes desarrollan diversas disciplinas deportivas, también hay máquinas para hacer ejercicio, parque infantil, entre otros, es una larga franja que se extiende desde el sector los Mangles hasta el centro comercial Marina plaza.
He visitado este lugar varias veces y cada una ha sido una linda experiencia, que me ha permitido observar el hermoso paisaje y disfrutar el contacto con la naturaleza, a principios del mes de junio fui con mi hijo en un día nublado, caminamos, hicimos ejercicio en las máquinas, observamos el atardecer y vimos un lindo perro paseando con su papá perruno muy relajado por la orilla de la playa; en esta ocasión nuestra visita se dio sin planificación, veníamos de visitar a una amiga, al pasar por el monumento y ver que el sol no estaba tan intenso, decidimos bajarnos del transporte y caminar un rato por la orilla de la playa.
Habían varias aves, surcando el cielo, se veían hermosas mientras planeaban y descendían al mar tal vez para pescar o bañarse, nos acercamos lo más que pudimos y logramos tomar algunas fotos de estas hermosas aves en pleno vuelo, luego fuimos al área de las máquinas y nos sentamos en el mirador la brisa y el sonido del mar eran perfectos para relajarse.

The wind increased in intensity and the water hit the rock harder to the point that our shoes and part of our pants got wet, we moved to another area further away from the water but the water still splashed on our clothes, we left there and resumed walking, always as close as we could to the beach and careful not to get caught in the water, it's cold at that time of day, it happened to us a while ago, we went to the beach at El Peñón in the afternoon and because we were very close to the shore, a wave soaked us, the cold was moderate and accompanied by the wind it intensified, we were with a church group and we had to wait several hours with wet clothes to return home, we didn't want to repeat that experience, so we decided to move away a little and move around paying attention to the waves.
Cuando avanzó la tarde y el sol estaba por ocultarse, nos dirigimos a una caminería de rocas para ver de cerca las olas, el viento a esta sopla con fuerza y el agua al chocar con las rocas forman una especie de llovizna, con mucho cuidado y despacio caminamos muy cerca de las rocas, vimos varios peces, conchas de caracola, entre ellas una que llamó mi atención por su lindo color rojo; activamos el modo explorador y caminamos por la arena prestando especial atención a las plantas que hay en playa, vimos uveros, verdolaga, mangle, entre otras, luego nos sentamos en la roca, desde alí se aprecia una linda vista de la playa y la península de Araya al fondo.
La intensidad del viento aumentó y el agua golpeaba con más fuerza la roca a tal punto que nos mojamos los zapatos y parte del pantalón, nos movimos hacia otra zona más alejada del agua pero de igual forma el agua salpicaba en la ropa, nos retiramos de allí y retomamos nuevamente la caminata, siempre lo más cerca que podíamos de la playa y atentos para que el agua no nos cayera, a esa hora hace frío, ya nos pasó hace tiempo, fuimos a la playa en el Peñón en horas de la tarde y por estar muy cerca de la orilla, una ola nos empapó, el frío era moderado y acompañado del viento se intensificaba, andábamos con un grupo de la iglesia y tuvimos que esperar varias horas con la ropa húmeda para volver a casa, no queríamos repetir esa experiencia, por eso decidimos alejamos un poco y nos desplazamos atentos a las olas.

Cuando empezó a oscurecer tomamos el camino para dirigirnos a la parada de transporte, mientras avanzábamos vimos un hermoso y colorido cangrejo en una de las rocas, mi hijo muy emocionado porque finalmente pudimos ver un cangrejo dijo: Eureka!! sin perder tiempo saqué el celular y le tomé dos fotos, este escurridizo animal que en un viaje anterior no le pudimos tomar foto, posó muy cómodo y relajado para la cámara, me acerqué lo más que pude para fotografiarlo y me ecantaron las fotos, estábamos muy felices de haber encontrado este curioso cangrejo, no lo buscamos y él sencillamente apareció en nuestro camino y nos permitió hacerle lindas fotografías.
Al llegar a casa muy emocionados por las fotos del cangrego colorido, buscamos su nombre en internet, pero no logramos identificarlo, cuando mi hijo volvió a clases le preguntó al profesor de biología, se trata de un Grapsus, el cual se alimenta principalmente de algas, este paseo fue espectacular porque además de relajarnos y disfrutar la brisa marina, pudimos ver un hermoso cangrejo.
