--- Hello everyone!!! I hope you’re doing well, or are trying to be well. I’m doing okay. Today, I’m taking you somewhere completely different… I’m still in Urfa, but this time my stop is the Haleplibahçe Mosaic Museum. And let me tell you, this isn’t just any museum. The moment you step inside, it feels like you’ve crossed into another world. The mosaics—their colors, their stories—catch your eye right from the entrance. As someone who could worship mosaics, I can’t wait to share what I saw and felt here.  --- Every time I thought about coming to Urfa, this place was on my list. And now, finally, another dream museum of mine is ticked off. The hunger in me to see and experience this eased a little. I had planned a whole itinerary in my head: visit Balıklıgöl, wander through the bazaar, taste local dishes… and this stop fit right in. And I’m so glad I came. Honestly, if you ever find yourself in Urfa, don’t skip this. You won’t regret it. The first thing I noticed as I stepped inside was the silence. Outside, Urfa’s heat and noise; inside, a different universe. It felt like time had stopped—cool, calm, still. You stand before these mosaics, and it’s as if stories from thousands of years ago are winking at you. And then there’s that Amazon mosaic… I can’t even put it into words. Female warriors, shields in hand, riding their horses, crafted centuries ago, yet still vibrant, still flawless. I wanted to take a photo, but then I thought, *some things should just stay with the eyes.* (but I took it either way 😂)  --- ---  --- As you move deeper into the museum, you get more and more enchanted. Every corner holds another story—gods and goddesses in one place, scenes of daily life in another: feasts, hunts, rituals. The detail is staggering; you feel like not a single stone was misplaced. I wanted to touch them all (you’re not allowed to, of course, but the urge is real). At one point, I bent closer to study the tiniest shifts in colour between the stones. A museum staff member walked past, smiled, and said, “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” All I could manage was, “Yes.” Anything more would’ve caught in my throat.  --- ---  --- ---  --- After a while, I found myself sitting on a bench by a window. I stared at a mosaic in front of me, and my mind drifted. Think about it—these stones were placed by hand, one by one, thousands of years ago. Who knows who walked these lands, who gazed at these patterns and what they felt? And here we are, so often forgetting to value such things.  --- ---  ---  --- On my way out, I stopped by the little gift shop and bought a small magnet patterned like a mosaic—a simple but meaningful keepsake. But the sweetest surprise of the day was just outside: a local woman selling homemade goods from a tiny stall. I bought a few things I didn’t even need, just to support her. It felt right—not just seeing the stones of the past, but the living culture around them, too. Later that evening, I thought the day was over, but I was in for another treat: we were heading to Urfa’s famous Sıra Gecesi. Still, as we wound through the narrow streets, my mind lingered on the museum. History isn’t really that far away from us—it’s right there, if we choose to see it. Haleplibahçe reminded me of that: the grandeur of the past, the warmth of the present. Put them together, and you get a day you’ll never forget. Maybe it’s because I’ve been missing days like this lately, but revisiting Haleplibahçe left me a little emotional. Perhaps one day, I’ll return. For now, that’s all from me. See you all later. Herkese merhabaaa!!! Umarım iyisinizdir ya da iyi olmaya çalışıyorsunuzdur. Ben iyi sayılırım. Bugün sizi bambaşka bir yere götürüyorum… Yine Urfa’dayım ama bu sefer durağım Haleplibahçe Mozaik Müzesi. Burası öyle sıradan bir müze değil, içeri girdiğinizde gerçekten başka bir dünyaya geçmiş gibi oluyorsunuz. Daha kapıdan girer girmez insanın gözü takılıyor o mozaiklere, renklerine, hikâyelerine… Ben de size hem gördüklerimi hem hissettiklerimi anlatacağım. Özellikle de mozaiklere tapacak kadar seven biri olarak.  --- Aslında Urfa’yı ne zaman düşünsem, gelişimde aklımda buraya uğramak vardı ve bu müze hayallerimi gerçekleştiren bir diğer müze oldu. İçimdeki görme ateşi bir nebze de olsa rahatlık verdi bana. Aklımda bir planım vardı. Balıklıgöl’e git, çarşıda dolaş, Urfa'ya özgü yemeklerden dene derken kendimi kaptırıyordum. İyi ki de gitmişim… Şimdiden söylüyorum, eğer yolunuz düşerse mutlaka uğrayın, pişman olmazsınız. Müzenin kapısından içeri girince ilk dikkatimi çeken şey sessizlik oldu. Dışarıda Urfa’nın o bildiğimiz sıcağı, gürültüsü varken burası bambaşka. Sanki zaman durmuş gibi. O serinlik, o sakinlik… Bir an insan nefes aldığını fark ediyor. Mozaiklerin karşısında duruyorsunuz ve binlerce yıl öncesinin hikâyesi size göz kırpıyor gibi… Hele ki “Amazonlar” mozaiği var ya, of… Kelimeler yetmez. Kadın savaşçılar, ellerinde kalkanlar, atlarıyla betimlenmiş. O dönemde yapılmış olmasına inanamıyorsunuz. Renkler hâlâ canlı, desenler hâlâ kusursuz. Fotoğrafını çekmek istedim ama sonra dedim ki “bazı şeyler sadece gözle kalsın.” (yine de çektim tabii 😂)  --- ---  --- Müzenin içinde ilerledikçe insan daha çok büyüleniyor. Her köşe başka bir hikâye. Bir yerde tanrıların tasvirleri, başka bir yerde günlük hayat sahneleri, ziyafetler, av sahneleri… O kadar detaylı ki, tek bir taşın bile yanlış konmadığını hissediyorsunuz. O mozaiklerin her birine dokunmak istedim, tabii dokunmak yasak ama insanın içinden geliyor işte. Bir ara eğilip taşların arasındaki küçücük renk farklarını inceledim. O sırada müze çalışanlarından biri yanımdan geçti, gülümsedi, “çok güzel değil mi?” dedi. “Evet” diyebildim sadece, daha fazlası boğazıma düğümlendi.  --- ---  --- ---  --- Bir süre sonra kendimi bir pencere kenarındaki bankta buldum. Oturdum, karşımdaki mozaiğe bakarken aklımdan bin bir şey geçti. Düşünsene, bu taşlar binlerce yıl önce elleriyle tek tek dizmiş insanlar tarafından yapılmış. Kim bilir kimler yürüdü bu topraklarda, kimler hangi duygularla baktı bu desenlere… Biz ise çoğu zaman böyle şeylere değer vermeyi unutuyoruz.  --- ---  ---  --- Müzenin hemen çıkışında küçük bir hediyelik bölümü var. Oradan mozaik desenli bir magnet aldım, küçük ama anlamlı bir hatıra. Fakat günün en güzel sürprizi, müzenin yakınlarında yaşayan bir teyze oldu. Küçük bir tezgâh açmış, ev yapımı ürünler satıyor. Nakitimin olup olmadığını hatırlamaya çalışırken yanına geçtim. Yardımcı olabilmek adına ihtiyacım olmadığını düşündüğüm birkaç şey aldım. Böyle şeyler insana daha da anlam katıyor. Sadece taşları değil, yaşayan kültürü de görmek. Dönüş yolunda gireceğimizi düşünürken aslında beni bir sürpriz bekliyormuş. O meşhur Urfa’nın Sıra Gecesi'ne katılacaktık ama dar sokaklarından geçerken aklım hâlâ müzedeydi. Tarih dediğimiz şey aslında o kadar uzak değil bize. Yeter ki gidip görmeyi bilelim. Haleplibahçe Mozaik Müzesi bana bunu bir kez daha hatırlattı. Bir yanda geçmişin görkemi, bir yanda bugünün sıcacık insanları… İkisi birleşince ortaya unutulmaz bir gün çıkıyor. Şu sıralar bu zamanlarımı çok özlediğimden olsa gerek Haleplibahçe'yi tekrar görmek biraz gözlerimi doldurdu. Belki bir gün, bir kere daha. Sanırım şimdilik benden bu kadar. Sonra görüşmek üzere.
