Things had gotten a bit dry at the auction house... no wins with my stinky bids... it hasn't helped that the price of silver and gold have risen steadily, and that most of my bids aren't even lasting the full week anymore... but instead being bumped out with two or three days left on the auction clock... sigh, but I'm not going to chase the price up. I'm content with not picking up wins on a regular schedule... just a little dopamine hit once every now and then, and then if I have spare cash then a visit to the coin shop to take my pick of weird arse ones.
But this one did manage to poke through, and it is one of the older Koalas from 2008 from the Perth Mint. I actually quite like this design, and it still comes sealed with the card as well. It is a cute one of the cub clinging to the back of the mother koala, quite detailed and seemingly in mint condition as well.
The back end of the card (and coin) show off our last monarch... and a little bit about the Koala. I am quite fond of picking up some of the older Australian Perth Mint coins... they are a bit of a gap in my collection, so when they come up for auction, I do watch them closely... but still stick to my bidding prices. It has to be a pretty interesting rare one for me to start to push up even a few dollars more than my go-to hard coded prices!
