These were some of my last estate auction wins before the silver price went a bit crazy in the upwards direction... what it means is that I'm not likely to win any more stinky bids on silver for a while until things cool down. If they cool down...
... but back to these two pieces that I won. They came in a nice boxed package... not bad for something that is about 25 years old!

The Royal Australian Mint is the one that is based in Canberra I believe, also decent quality but less renowned than the Perth Mint. And these two coins are showcasing two aspects of our southern Victorian capital of Melbourne. If I had to choose between Sydney or Melbourne... well, I'd likely choose Melbourne... but to me, they are both unhappily large... and I would choose to live anywhere else!

... and the leather case is still in decent condition as well! This win is all full of pleasant surprises!

Opening it up, give the Certificate of Authority... and there were 20,000 of these pieces minted... and this one is a relatively low number which is also nice! Both the coins weigh in at 20 grams a piece, making this set just slightly over an ounce of pure silver.

And the designs... relatively simple, showcasing two of the iconic sights of Melbourne. The Melbourne Cricket Ground... which would be cool if I was into sports... and the much loved Melbourne trams, which I really quite miss travelling on after living in the Netherlands for so long with trams all over the place!
I do think that the tram makes for a better image than the Cricket Ground... something about the cricket ground perspective is really weird... and well, a field of grass isn't the most exciting picture!

Finally, on the reverse side, the old Queen... as always, a striking figure on our coinage! Much better than the new guy...
