Another year, and another crypto-round up for the tax reporting... and as always, the stress of wondering if I will be able to manage it all again. And the return back to my preferred tracking and tax preparation tool, [Cointracking](https://cointracking.info?ref=S596141).
And as always, the big problem with crypto is that under capital gains tax rules, EVERYTHING MUST BE TRACKED! Every tiny little transactions... which means that, although I don't have lots of crypto to track, there are lots and lots of little transactions... most of which a pretty worthless. One day, we will have a better way to do this... better tax reporting rules would be a great start. And hopefully, as more politicians and important people get more exposure to this, they will simplify the rules to benefit themselves... or they will just hire people to navigate the nightmare on their behalf. Well... probably the latter... but one can live in hope!
This year, I've been a little better prepared... with all the exchange exports requested and ready to load. But I've also procrastinated a bit with starting... with the fear that it might just be too much work again. But I'm going away on tour in and out for the next few weeks... and that means that I have lots of "free" time to put a huge dent in this accounting and reporting with [Cointracking](https://cointracking.info?ref=S596141).
I did make a start on the weekend, and I was quite pleased to say that [Cointracking](https://cointracking.info?ref=S596141) and the various exchanges have started to make things easier... not quite a standard or anything like that, but there are importing templates and much less in the way of mistakes in the first couple of imports that I made. Fingers crossed that any on-chain stuff will also be so simple!
So, the end of October is fast incoming... and I do need to focus on other things other than accountancy... but this HAS to be done. And the faster I do it, the sooner it will be done... and then I can focus back onto the things that make me happy.
Thank goodness that I only had to pay once for the unlimited [Cointracking](https://cointracking.info?ref=S596141) package... I see that they have adjusted the tiering again, but still only ranked by transaction count instead of a set amount each year. This is definitely the differentiating point for this particular platform!
Heads down... get to work!
