Back in the big city for a bit of work again... and as always, I save up my food allowance by opting to cook for myself instead of constantly eating out... and that means that I can treat myself to a little bullion shop visit. I'm now much less scared about going into that imposing building with the security and weird atmosphere... like many things, once you do it once, you lose your fear of the unknown!
Anyway, I had hoped to pick up four ounces of silver with the cash that I had put aside for this... but I hadn't really been following the price of precious metals recently... and I was quite surprised to see that silver was significantly more expensive than last time.
Unfortunately, the stock of buyback silver was also a little low as well, so there wasn't that much to choose from. Still, it is nice to trawl the buyback silver to see what interesting things are lurking around....
... and this two ounce lightly colourised kookaburra was the first thing that caught my eye... a nice piece... but...
... slightly tarnished on the reverse side. Just around the rim, so nothing crazily major... but still taking away from its full value. However, at buyback price... it will be nice enough!
There was precious (haha...) little else to choose from... I could have just left it there, but I did want to pick up one more ounce of silver.... and so, I did pick out this Australia under the Southern Cross one ounce piece. The design was interesting... if a little busy... and unlike the other piece, it wasn't tarnished or damaged in any way.
I've not seen the queen on such a busy background before... more used to seeing her relief on a cleaner background. I'm not really sure that I like that!
