We finally set up our little LEGO table in the attic a few weeks back (yes, I"m lagging behind on posting vs real life!). My oldest child is really into the LEGO Friends since she was around 5 or so, and each year she has gotten something nice from her grandparents or us, which means that she has quite a large collection of sets (not pictured here are a couple of larger kits that were dismantled in a recent MUM-pocalypse).
So, we have to rebuild the larger sets... there is a plane, a house and a boat that need rebuilding from scratch (we saved the manuals...) from the huge bucket of parts that were all thrown together. Luckily, I have a month of enforced vacation from work (no musicians are working these days...)... so, I will have ample free time to build LEGO and find new ways to keep afloat finacially!
Anyway, I have convinced her that we don't really need to follow the manuals completely to the letter. After all, we just need the shell of the plane and the boat... after which we can fit them out anyway we see fit!

We did manage to finish the plane shell yesterday... and today she is outfitting it to be a luxury hotel room on the inside!

Anyway, as we continue building and rebuilding the shells and pieces in our new LEGO space... I'm trying to get her to be more comfortable with just free-building and following her imagination. It's a bit hard, as she wants to follow the manuals and build what is there... and she hates it when it doesn't come out exactly right. But baby steps...
Speaking of which, I have to figure out a space for her sister's DUPLO blocks...
