Greetings
The tradition of giving yellow flowers has its roots on the Argentinan soap opera "Floricienta". The protagonist dreamt of receiving yellow flowers as a sign of true love. This idea has gotten into pop culture and now it is something regular during specific dates of the year.
It all depends on where do you live. If you are above the line of the equator, the flowers are given on March 21st. On the contrary, if you are below the line, you are expected to give them on September 21st.
In Venezuela, the flowers are given both days. Why? Because Venezuelans are overdoers. There is no other reason. And flowers are not cheap even when they are abundant. Regardless, it is expected that men get their loved ones flowers. Some women for give their friends some as well. It depends on whether you like to give flowers or not.
As it goes for me, I love giving flowers and having another chance to do it on a special occasion is amazing. It is still a bit funny that all this began with a soap opera, but some traditions transcend their origins. Maybe it will become a tradition for me as well. But that remains to be seen.
My flowers were accepted with grace and now we are about to go on a date. Maybe this the sign on how to give @octocel some flowers without making her feel too uncomfortable.
